Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Raneri.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Andrew. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was working for a tech company in the 70’s and when Reagan got into office, there was a big economic boom and my associates were in the construction business. I got bored with my job and joined there construction team. I wasn’t happy being behind a desk every day for seven years. I started framing houses, got to know different contractors, and joined up with a friend in the plastering business and learned about the trade. In 1986 I joined the carpenters union and learned a lot with them. I decided to stay in the plastering field, and eventually started picking up my own work, and from there opened my own business.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I was young when I started out, things were not at easy at first. When the Market crashed in the 80’s business came to a halt, and I worked for a printing company for 18 months to support my family. One day, I got a call to repair some water damaged ceilings from the previous bad winter. I had $400 left in my savings, so I put an ad in the paper to repair water damaged ceilings working for myself. From then on, the business exceeded and grew. I was hearing stories about other contractors not doing a good job, or ripping off the customers. I hung in there, and the company is thriving!

I am proud to say my son has joined my company and I am hoping to pass it on to him one day.
