Andrew, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been in the mortgage industry for 15 years now, but it didn’t start as smoothly as I had hoped.
I attended UMASS Amherst with a degree in finance. I had every intention of pursuing a career in investment banking but landed my first job in mortgage origination. I really had to fend for myself the first few months – they gave me a phone, a list of people to call and I had to figure out the rest on my own. I quickly learned how to develop my client base to help grow my business.
I’ve always been interested in numbers and mathematics so that has really helped me excel in such a competitive industry. Throughout my mortgage career, I’ve helped over 5,000 families achieve their dream of homeownership. My financial background allows me to analyze each clients’ unique, financial picture. I’m proud to have helped such a vast array of clients – from first time home buyers to investment buyers and beyond. This industry is about much more than just numbers to me, it’s about providing the best level of service to all my clients,
Has it been a smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t always been a smooth road. But joining Guaranteed Rate has been a game changer for me. I’ve been with them for over three years now and have continued to grow my business year over year – I am very proud to say that being in such a competitive industry.
But that being said, there are always concerns when someone if buying a home. It’s a big investment and my team and I are here to help every step of the way. My clients are always very concerned about mortgage rates but I try to focus on their entire financial picture. I emphasize loan options and what product may be most suitable for their particular situation. We figure out where they are most comfortable with their payment/costs depending on how long they may own the particular property.

Guaranteed Rate is a phenomenal company, unlike any other in the industry. We have been the #1 Mortgage Lender in Massachusetts five years in a row. For the past three years, I’ve been the #2 purchase originator in the State of Massachusetts and was the #1 Mass Housing originator in 2016.
55% of my business is jumbo lending. Guaranteed Rate is the largest non-bank jumbo lender in the United States so this allows my clients access to a vast variety of options and extremely competitive rates.
Additionally, I have a dedicated team working solely with my clients’ loans. Every member of my team has a specific role, level of expertise and we’re always here to help.
Borrowers and their realtor receive live updates every step of their loan. They are given a “mortgage checklist” in the application process letting them know exactly what documents we’ll need from them. Our system is also very useful and electronically friendly.
Overall, it is a MUCH easier loan process than our competitors – and it shows. A very large part of my business is based on referrals.
What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Professionally – I look forward to helping more clients with their dream of homeownership. I have a dedicated team working with me, so I am very optimistic about the future and what we can achieve. I was very grateful to be named the #5 Mortgage Originator if American for 2017 (*Named by Mortgage Executive Magazine).
On a more personal level, I live in Concord Massachusetts with my wife, iris, and two children, Stella and Leo who keep me motivated and feeling very blessed. I enjoy biking and skiing in Vermont and am a big New England sports fan – go pats!
