Meet Andrea Starr of EYESTARR in Newbury St.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Starr.

Andrea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For as long as I can remember I’ve been into beauty, creativity and very entrepreneurial.

I have memories early on of being a little girl, doing my little cousins’ makeup at my Grandmothers bathroom vanity, with all of her makeup. I went to esthetic school shortly after high school and did makeup artistry and skin care for a little bit. Shortly after that, I trained in doing lash extensions and picked it up very quickly. It’s a very niche, high-end service and industry to be involved in. I quickly built up my clientele and before I knew it, it makes perfect sense to start my own company. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. You have to absolutely love and believe in what you do, remain flexible and continuously learn and grow. I have spent the past two years developing a product line from the ground up with a cosmetic chemist that is soon to launch, which I am very excited about! All products are pure, free of chemicals and made in the US!

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t, but nothing in life that’s really worth it comes easy. You have to be willing to put a lot of hard work, dedication, and effort into whatever it is you’re doing. I can’t think of one struggle in particular but I think remaining flexible, trying different ways (trial and error), staying focused and being present in your work every day is most important. Everything in life happens the way it’s supposed to. If you love what you do and try hard I believe it hast to work out. Also, if it feels like work, it won’t work.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the EYESTARR story. Tell us more about the business.
EYESTARR is Boston’s premier lash and brow boutique. We specialize in creating beautiful, natural looks by enhancing what you have, naturally. We specialize in individually placed semi-permanent lash extensions, lash and brow tinting, lash lifts/curling, and eyebrow shaping. We consult with every client and customize each service based off of their particular needs. What sets us apart is the fact that we are truly experts. It’s not a type of salon or spa that has a huge menu list, we specialize in just a few services and truly eat, sleep, breathe them.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the industry growing and expanding even more. I have been doing this for 9 years and I’ve seen a lot of change. It’s definitely on client’s radar more. Quality is very important and I see us growing even more because of that.
