Today we’d like to introduce you to Amye Kurson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Amye. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started in 2003 when I was playing in a golf tournament surrounded by stylish ladies and noticed that almost none of the women had any cute golf accessories on their clubs or bags. I started looking around for fashionable women’s golf accessories after that and realized that they basically did not exist! I couldn’t believe this void and I immediately set out to fill it. I traveled down to Orlando to the PGA golf expo to confirm my findings and yes I was correct. Women’s golf did not have much to offer. I started Ame & Lulu as a golf concept, to create stylish and fun golf accessories for women of all ages. The concept took off and Ame & Lulu golf was born. Some early press in publications such as Instyle magazine gave us a name recognition and golf clubs across the country started stocking Ame & Lulu on their shelves and using us for their golf tournament prizes. It wasn’t but a few years later that people urged us to make tennis bags. Tennis has become the largest category for us and we are the leader in the USA for women’s tennis fashion bags. Ame & Lulu has grown to become a sports and lifestyle brand for active women with items ranging from golf, tennis, yoga, travel, beauty and more.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Running your own business always has its ups and downs. I remember when I had my first child two years ago. We have a small operation and two of our employees were moving on. I was not able to take maternity leave so I set up a nursery in my office and brought my baby to work with me. You are always juggling and making sacrifices when it’s your own business.

Ame & Lulu is a lifestyle accessory company for active women. We make bright, bold, and somewhat preppy tennis bags, golf, travel and beauty items. We are known for our bold patterns and quality craftsmanship and fill a void for these items. Our tennis backpack which was featured on Oprah’s “O” list has been one of our most unique and popular items.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t change a thing. I learned from everything that has happened in the past 15 years!
