Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Peabody.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
About 4 years ago, I purchased my first DSLR camera, a Canon Rebel. I always loved taking photos with a 35mm film camera and had several digital cameras in my teenage years. I found myself obsessed with taking photos of everything, friends, family, special occasions, and travel.
I quickly learned through reading about light and exposure, watching videos, and befriended professional photographers, how to take and edit photos. I still look back on photos I took years ago and critique myself on what I could or should have done differently. I never thought my hobby would become a business, but quickly it did. I was able to leave my well paying full-time job of almost 15 years in October 2016.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Finding time to balance weekend photo shoots with 2 busy children is often my biggest personal struggle. Otherwise, work is very fun and smooth road for me. There is always room to learn and grow.
Please tell us about North Shore Boston Photography.
I am the owner and only photographer in my business. I have a small studio in my home that I love to use for small families, sibling photos, and newborns. I prefer to shoot outdoors for the best selection of backgrounds and lighting. My favorite photo shoots are events, undercover proposals, engagement shoots, large multi-generation family and family and child photography.
I have lots of different lenses and I am equipped and ready for real estate, newborns, nuptials, landscape and business marketing. I am proud that I started my business with just about nothing. I keep my prices competitive and affordable and I am proud of the relationships I have built with my customers. There is nothing more satisfying than having them come back to me year after year and them having me there to capture all life’s most precious moments and milestones.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I wish that I had taken some classes in editing, which would have helped cut down time in editing process over time.
