Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Dearth.
Amy found her passion for the events industry when she planned community-based events as a teenager. She joined the industry professionally in 2004 after completing her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration and French at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.
Amy has managed thousands of events working with clients including AT&T, Bank of America, Staples, the NCSL Legislative Summit, TripAdvisor and many more. In 2005, Amy joined the International Live Events Association (ILEA) to gain professional development and form industry contacts. In 2008, she served on the Board of the New England Chapter. Since then, she has continued to support the ILEA community for 11 years, serving as chapter president in 2015-2016. In 2010, Amy was honored to receive the ILEA New England Merit Scholarship and was also the recipient of the Lawrence A. Green Award in 2013 and the President’s Award in 2015. These awards are given to deserving ILEA members for their continued dedication to the chapter. In 2013, Amy was proud to obtain her Certified Special Event Professional [CSEP] designation.
In 2015, Consider It Done Special Events, was launched. CID is a full-service event management and decor production company focused on providing event services for corporate and social events. The team that makes up CID is full of passion, experience, and knowledge of the events industry, which is why CID has quickly grown in the past few years.
Once the laptop is powered down, Amy is a mom to two children, Giuliana (3) and Sofia (2). Along with her husband, Ben, she loves to create adventures for these two crazy ladies. Be it on special trips around New England or just a playful afternoon of playing dolls, they sure do keep her busy!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My grandmother always told me to never live with regret, as she never had any regrets despite challenges in her own life. Because of that lesson, any challenges that I have faced eventually have turned into opportunities. For example, many years ago, I started a new job for a company that was not in the events industry. I didn’t want to take the job, but knew that I had bills to pay, so off to work I went. After a year working with this company, I was able to learn some amazing communication skills that I still use to this day. I also met my husband at this job. So, the answer is that it is never a smooth road and you will always face struggles, but it’s in handling those challenges that you develop the skills to become a better version of yourself.
Consider It Done Special Events, LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Consider It Done Special Events, LLC is a full-service event management, decor, and production company. We focus on providing all event-related services and products to you at a fair price. Essentially, we want to be your one-stop shop for all things events! We specialize in corporate and social events, especially holiday parties, summer outings, and weddings. We are known for our management services mostly, despite owning a lot of drape, linens, and decor products, as well as production services. Because we speak the world of A/V, we are often asked to be part of unique event productions in order to use technical gear in a fun new way. I think this is what sets us apart. Being able to speak a technical language combined with what we call the “pretties” of an event (decor), we can really bring our decor pieces to life through the use of tech.
What sets us apart is that our team is so full of passion. We work very hard to be successful in what we do and hold ourselves to a very high standard in order to keep that success.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I’m asked this question a lot….
I believe success is so personal that there are infinite possibilities of how to actually define it. For me, I feel successful if I am working towards a goal. I don’t have to complete the goal, but just in the art of doing something towards bettering myself, makes me feel as if I am doing something right. In order to measure that goal, one must take a lot of time for self-reflection in order to gauge if you are on the path for a positive outcome. I do think it’s important to set goals to help this process as well, but it’s not in achieving them that success is found, like I feel many may think. It’s merely the work that you put in to make sure that you are doing well, that makes you successful. And hey, if you are having trouble meeting a goal, don’t beat yourself up, CHANGE THE GOAL! 🙂 Ultimately, I think each person should have one goal only…. to achieve happiness with oneself. Any subsequent goals should answer to that.
