Meet Ali Singer of Yoga Hub

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Singer.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ali. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had the idea for Yoga Hub when I was in my 200 hour teacher training. I saw that the yoga industry was growing- there was more and more people becoming certified to teach, and also a growing demand for yoga services. The challenge that people face with adopting a regular yoga practice is that studio memberships are expensive, and the locations and class times are not always aligned their work and home life. In addition to this, I saw opportunities to offer yoga teachers professional development and ongoing education- most of us work as independent contractors, and there’s not much collaboration beyond teacher trainings and workshops.

I started working on Yoga Hub about two years ago. In the formative years, Yoga Hub is primarily growing in the agency side: We partner with hotels, offices, and residences to offer weekly yoga classes for their guests, residents, and employees. We’ve also done some community-based work with the Boston Public Health Commission, the Boston Public Library, and the Museum of Science. Now, we are shifting more into professional development for yoga teachers by offering collaborative workshops and mentorship.

Has it been a smooth road?
What was an incredible opportunity was also a big challenge: Pop Allston, a mixed-use community space opened up for use from September 2015-2016. We hosted the yoga program there, offering donation-based classes. The program was well-received and so much fun! We held three weekly classes: one by candlelight, one with reggae music, and “glow yoga,” which is yoga with blacklights. Yoga Hub’s challenge with the Pop Allston opportunity is that our business model is essentially a remote studio, and operations there were focused on building a community around that location. As such we got a little sidetracked from our mission to bring yoga to more environments.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Yoga Hub – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Yoga Hub provides professional yoga services for hotels, residences, and offices. We identify the area’s top instructors and contract to teach at our client’s locations. Our teachers specialize in leading group classes for all audiences- no matter age, ability, or level, we guarantee every student will have an incredible yoga experience.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Boston is an incredibly active city, and there is a flourishing yoga community, which we love! What do we like least about the city?? I suppose that the weather makes it difficult to have outdoor yoga year-round 🙂
