Today we’d like to introduce you to Adwoa Sakyi-Lamptey, Afrakomah Agyeman.
Adwoa and Afrakomah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Afradj Experiences was birthed from a love for organizing and planning. We have been best friends for 20+ years and have been the perfect ‘ying’ to each other’s ‘yang’. We started planning little events here and there for friends and family and got more serious about it when it came to Church activities. We were constantly looking to help out where we could and lend a hand in solving issues that arose during an event. We soon realized we had a true knack for bringing forth one’s vision but we were still very young (middle school through high school). We had college ahead of us and the realities of fulfilling the reasons why our parents sacrificed their successful lives and careers to bring us to the United States started to set in. Not only did we have to focus on graduating, but we had to focus on life after college and what our careers would be. Fast forward a few years and we were encouraged by family and friends who saw our potential far more than we did to pursue it and turn our passion into a business. We decided to use Adwoa and Sam’s wedding as a spring board for launching what we prayed would be a fruitful career in event planning. We struggled for a while as to what to call the company but we eventually came up with Afradj (Afrakomah and Adwoa shortened and combined) to signify the bond we have had as friends for all these years. Experiences came about as that is what we set out to do; create unforgettable experiences for anyone we worked with. Our mission is to create ‘Timeless moments that leave you breathless’ and to also ensure that we execute the vision of our clients seamlessly to last them a lifetime. It has not been an easy road but we have been blessed with amazing clients and loved ones that support us on this journey. We look forward to the years ahead and what God has in store for us. We are not just building a company, we are building an Empire.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. Work life balance has been our greatest challenge. We have full time day jobs that pay the bills as well as families to cater to. We are also involved in various activities and organizations in the community and in the Church so learning to manage our time efficiently to ensure successful events for our clients has truly been a balancing act.

Afradj Experiences is a full service event planning company. We specialize in weddings and corporate events. We have also planned and executed birthday parties as well as showers, proposals, etc. We are most known for our wedding planning services. What we are most proud of is staying true to our goal of keeping smiles on the faces of our clients, guests, and all whom we encounter. The relationships we have built along the way are irreplaceable. We are a company built on faith. We start and end every meeting and every event with a prayer as we truly believe that God has been and should continue to be the center of all that we do.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What we like most about the city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts is the diversity that makes up this beautiful place we call home. Boston is one of the richest cities in America; rich in its entertainment (food, artistry, etc), its education, and its history. We stand on the shoulders of giants and we hope to represent this city as best as we can.
What we like least about the city is the weather. It can be very unpredictable and can affect an event.
