Meet Adam Cissell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Cissell.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in Louisville, KY and grew up across the river in Jeffersonville, IN. I eventually made my way to Boston in 2007. I have played in various bands and recorded bands as “Guv Studios.” My longest running project, “Adam PC,” started as a solo project in 2008 and became an actual band in 2010. It has changed lineups several times but is still going strong.

Please tell us about your art.
I have recorded several “Adam PC” albums. It has changed quite a bit from where it started in 2008 as dance-y synthy electro-disco with talk-singing sardonic lyrics to now more guitar-driven kind of 90’s rock. It has been over ten goddamned years since it started, so it kind of makes sense to me that it would change. Also, it is a full band now, so song writing and recording decions are being made as a group. The most recent album (currently being mixed) was a collaboration between myself, Mary Lee Desmond, Justin Case Niles and Max Siegel

Irrespective of the genre and lineup changes, I have always tried to convey what’s on my mind. After one of the first Adam PC shows in 2011, a friend came up to me after our set and said, “Man, it sounds like you have a lot to say.” I feel like that hasn’t really changed.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I feel like art always needs to be there saying what needs to be said. There has always been shit going on that needed art to be held up as a mirror to tell the truth to the world or to escape the world or just to convey the depth of human emotion. I don’t think that need has increased. A large portion of human history is the story of several instances of how one group of people f’d over another one. We have always needed art, and now is definitely no different.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
All of the stuff I’ve done with Adam PC or Guv, before that, are all on Spotify, Apple Music, bandcamp, etc. All of the other bands I’ve been in like Boston Ruin and Future Spa are on at least one of the aforementioned streaming outlets. Also, Adam PC is still a functioning band. The current lineup is myself, Mary Lee Desmond, Marc Valois, Corey Dobson and Mike Blasi. So, come see a show, HOSS!
