Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Sheehy.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I grew up in Lowell Massachusetts and have spent most of my life here. I have always been into art but that wouldn’t take me into this career until later on in my life. I had all intentions of going to college for art after high school but that never happened. I ended up becoming a machinist but always kept that interest in art and always found tattooing fascinating. About 6 years ago I bought a tattoo kit and started tattooing myself and pigskin. A friend of mine asked me if I would ever be interested in an apprenticeship but I didn’t think it was possible considering I had a career and a family to support.
After talking it over with a friend who worked at a shop I was able to get an apprenticeship in Billerica Mass. at the Ink Club under great guys and artists Steve Makara, Jay Casaubon and TonyPaterno. A little over a year ago I was able to open up Art of Creation in Tyngsboro Mass. with my good friend and one of the great artists that helped me get to where I am today Tony Paterno. It has been a long road and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the love and support from my wife Jenn and my daughters Ashlyn and Nora.
Please tell us about your art.
I like to try and dabble with all different mediums. I had never really worked with paints but I recently worked on a project with a friend using acrylics and I really enjoyed it. That is probably the best thing about art, there are so many options and you can always try new techniques. I look at my tattooing in the same way. There is always new methods and techniques to learn. For me I think I enjoy doing color tattoos the most but there isn’t any style that I won’t do. I always keep it mind to stay humble and keep learning every day. I say if you want something bad enough go for it. You will get there.
We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
I know in the tattoo industry there are many forums to connect with other artists
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?

Great Article Aaron, Congrats. You know I wouldn’t go to anyone else. You’ve done amazing work on myself, my family and friends I’ve brought in. Always looking forward to the next!
