Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Lamb.
Aaron, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After years in the food industry working for some great people and some not so great I found myself in L.A working the usual 60 hour weeks and stressed out of my mind. Most nights ended with me stopping at a Taco stand on my way home from another long day. I eventually moved back to the Boston area. I always wanted to start my own venture. I also missed the Taco stands of L.A and put 2 and 2 together. The Taco Cart’el is what came of that. We also offer many other catering options from personal chef to corporate events.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I really thought after I quit my job and started working the Cart’el full time I would have some time to breathe… not so much but I love every minute of it! The biggest challenge I find running a mobile food business is juggling the cooking and food side which is a complete joy for me and the countless permits and paperwork that goes along with the mobile concept. Most people don’t realize for every town and city you set up and serve in you need to apply for permits and get inspected for each town. In the last 3 weeks alone I have had to get permitted in 5 different towns… that’s the most frustrating part of the whole thing for me.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Aaron’s Taco Cart’el story. Tell us more about the business.
We offer Mexican style street tacos. Simple, affordable and delicious! In addition to that we offer an array of catering options from the private chef to cater a high-end party. Or just dropping of treys of tacos or gyros to an office for an Employee Appreciation Day. I have 15 years of food experience and love using everything I’ve learned over the years!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Really, I think people have to make their own luck. I guess there have been a few things that have seemed to fall right in place for me but there’s also many things that didn’t. Hard work and determination go along way!
