Today we’d like to introduce you to Kavya Gujjula.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am an analyst by profession and I started blogging in April 2017, but I wasn’t very active for a while. I took a long break and decided to get back to blogging, be more active earlier this year in January. I have always had an immense interest in fashion, but this is my first stint as a fashion blogger. Over the last few months, there were many unexpected changes in my life and I went through a lot of chaos. But, whenever I see a lot of influencers out there every day, I only get inspired by the work they do and also the content they bring to their followers. This definitely keeps me moving forward!!! Blogging is just not great virtual treat, it mainly creates inspiration, tips and lot of takeaways and giveaways… Haha!! I’d call myself still an amateur blogger but I try to bring the best of whatever I can to all my followers.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it wasn’t a smooth and easy journey at all for me. One needs a good content, high-quality presentation in pictures and how different are you from other bloggers. There are tons of blogs out there and what makes your account unique to attract followers and readers. Time was another biggest constraint for me or maybe I didn’t know how to manage my schedule all this while. Hahaha!! I slowly started incorporating all the takeaways from various influencers and of course my followers. They have been my biggest inspiration so far and I think they will always be. Although I’m too amateur to advise any other women who are just starting their journey, I’d probably ask them to not to worry too much about winning or losing followers on social media. As a beginner, we tend to get anxious about the number of followers. Trust me, I was one amongst that list!!! I strongly believe that only right content can always win genuine followers! 🙂
Please tell us about Closetandmirror.
I work as an IT analyst during the day. But I was always interested in art. I love any forms of art. I have an eye for bright colors and anything that’s colorful. I always wanted to look the best and strongly believed that ” You can never be overdressed or overeducated” by Oscar Wilde. I started designing my own clothes when I was almost 16 and that’s when I discovered what I’m good at. However, I couldn’t go to a fashion school and I ended up as an engineer. Haha!!! I was more than happy and excited when Glamhook, our first clothing was launched. I strongly believe in customer satisfaction and also try to exceed their expectations.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I read a lot of fashion blogs, magazines, watch videos on the internet. On regular basis, I talk to other influencers and try to get some inspiration from them. I’m currently hooked on a podcast hosted by Jackie, Boston based service.
