Life and Work with Jeane Hoang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeane Hoang.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jeane. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I tried my first French macaron at a local coffee shop in Boston and I knew I had to learn how to make these. French macarons are well known to be finicky cookies but after many trials, tossed trays and tears, here I am, 5 years later.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth ride. My family had to move several times in two years so it was quite difficult to have a startup. We were finally able to settle into a place and after figuring out the new oven, business has been good. My advice to young women, when you discover what you love, run with it.

Please tell us about Emma’s Macarons.
I specialize in small batch, French macarons. Every batch is made to order, so it’s always fresh. I like to use unique flavors and customize macarons for any special occasion.

What I’m most proud of my brand is being able to share my tips with other beginner macaron bakers. I know how difficult these things are so being able to help anyone with baking them is a huge reward.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
I believe one of the biggest barriers in today’s female leadership is being treated equally to their male counterpart.
