Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Hauslerova Westerhuis.
Eva, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I turned to nutrition and a healthy lifestyle over ten years ago hoping this approach can help me to overcome a number of health issues I was dealing with back then including low energy and mood, PMS, skin problems and weight gain. I must say I am feeling like a different person now in my thirties and never look back.
Since, I have been on this journey myself I can relate to others (particularly women) struggling with their own health concerns and there is nothing more rewarding than sharing my expertise and clinical experience, following their progress and witnessing amazing transformations as a result.
Has it been a smooth road?
It is never a smooth journey when it comes to establishing and developing your own business. There are ups and downs of course and every day is a “school day”. Building confidence and genuinely believing in what you have to offer is a must. Your passion will shine through and that is how and why you attract the right crowd of people you want to work with. Your mindset is very powerful so it is worth exploring some techniques that will empower your thinking and attitude. There are great coaches and “motivators” out there nowadays so don’t be afraid or shy to ask for help from someone wiser and experienced. Find your role model and simply replicate whatever makes their business great. Also, any successful journey or project works far better with a plan and a number of realistic and achievable goals. Remember to change the plan if it doesn’t work though! Don’t waste time repeating the same mistakes.
Show up every day, spread some positive vibes, inspire others and support them all the way to your best abilities. However, stay authentic and honest and stick to your own values.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Nueva Nutrition – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My work and approach as a nutritional therapist are based on the functional medicine model which is not about calorie counting or food deprivation. I strongly believe we must feed our body as much as possible to provide a variety of vital nutrients required for all body functions, including energy production, metabolism, skin regeneration, the creation of new hormones and brain chemicals which play a role in our mood and stress resilience. So, rather then counting calories I focus on nourishing the body with the right “fuel”.
It is also important to remember that every one of us is an individual with a different set of genes, metabolism, lifestyle and eating habits as well as personal life story or experience which may have influenced our health and wellbeing. Therefore providing a personalized strategy plan is my No. 1 priority.
Functional nutrition approach allows me to identify underlying causes to symptoms and health conditions which can be improved and/or reversed through nutritional as well as lifestyle changes. In order to understand my clients’ unique requirements, I use a number of diagnostic tools, including a detailed questionnaire, visual personal timeline and laboratory testing. The most common root causes contributing to chronic and autoimmune conditions nowadays are compromised digestive functions, insufficient liver detox, lack of beneficial bacteria, hormonal imbalances (including thyroid issues, estrogen dominancy, high levels of the stress hormone cortisol, insulin resistance), exposure to environmental toxins and heavy metals, food intolerances and nutrient deficiencies.
Nutritional therapy to me is a fascinating field based on scientific and clinical evidence which provide us with undeniable results in promotion of health and prevention of chronic diseases. And, I believe there is more exciting discoveries to be made.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Not specifically in my case that I can recall. I was simply encouraged by my parents to go after what makes me happy and work on it. There are some amazing, influential and inspiring people out there who crossed my path and made me realized anything is possible. If they can do it, I can do it, right? 🙂
