Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Gomez.
Claudia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It really all started with me being freed from an oppressed mentality that constantly kept me thinking I couldn’t accomplish anything great, that great things could happen to anyone else but me. I lived in fear of failure and listening to the demons in my head that told me I just wasn’t good enough and life wouldn’t change. I thought like this for years honestly, most of my life. In May of 2017, I went to a conference in North Carolina and at that point, I knew I could no longer run or hide in fear, I knew God was showing me that it was time to take a step into my purpose and that I actually had one!
That is when I began Claudia’s Glass House. A space that reflected the transparency I knew people needed but the one I also desired to see from others. It was a space to share my story, flaws and all to the world in hopes to connect, relate and inspire others to change. I wanted other women to know they weren’t alone in those dark places and that there was hope in any situation. I wanted to share with the world, “If God took me out of where I was, He can certainly do it for you. So, I began sharing, creating content, making videos and most importantly feeling full of purpose.
Has it been a smooth road?
In no way has it been a smooth road. To start, being transparent and completely open with who you are, mistakes and even struggles and hoping people respond well is always scary but stepping out of your comfort zone and actually taking action to do what it is you have wanted to do can be dreadful especially when you are still growing as a person.
In the world of social media, regardless of what your message is there is a struggle with comparison of success(we compare the highlights of those that have been doing the job for years!!) and even more for me was the struggle of understanding that my validation didn’t come from my following, numbers, or partnerships. I had to understand that I was here on a bigger mission/purpose and it was to help bring some kind of change to someone else in need and that is not always measurable or even stated out loud to hear. My advice to other women, especially those just starting off, is to “run your own race!” We each have our own race to the finish line, not only is the finish line different for all of us but the race we run looks different. It took me a long time to understand that jealousy and comparison won’t help you run your race any quicker, instead, it slows you down in life. We gain so much more being happy for others winning and even learning from those that have already won.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Claudia’s Glass House – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I wear many hats, lol! I run along side my husband a video production company where we capture people’s stories and create all sorts of video content. I am also a blogger where I am able to create content and just be a storyteller to my own story. I share on faith, marriage, motherhood and really any other struggle we can face in our lives that I have learned a lesson to and feel the burning desire to share with those willing to listen. I think the biggest thing my post is known for is transparency and being raw. I try my best to not hold back and my readers have seemed to love that and relate to it. They constantly share their appreciation for my openness and I couldn’t be happier that they feel I can be a voice for them. I hope what sets me apart from others is simply being a woman of faith who aren’t afraid to talk about “real-life” issues and refuses to wear a mask. Like I said I just want to share and inspire, haha, so I hope I’m doing that.
There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
Who you surround yourself and listen to is so important to your growth and overall success. Seek those that inspire you and add value to who you are as a person. I can’t even stress enough how important it is to have mentors/coaches around. Reach out to people, send an email and take someone out for coffee, so much can happen over coffee and if you don’t have anyone nearby it’s ok, the internet is a gem. I have gained a community of online friends that have been such a great support and resource when I have needed it the most.
