Conversations with the Inspiring Taylor Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Robinson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Taylor. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I feel like I am finally at a point in my journey where I can say it has been QUITE a journey. Growing up in Northern New Jersey, I was ready to venture out and start my own adventure. After attending the University of Colorado Boulder and meeting the love of my life, it was time to start a new chapter. We followed our hearts, yet again, and ended up in Boston (a dream of mine I still can’t believe I am living out).

I specialize in Couples and Lifestyle Photography. I value the quiet in-between moments between two people that hold the world in their arms when they hold one another. I don’t want to just take pretty pictures of couples in love, I want to curate memories that they will have for a lifetime and beyond.

Now, running my own business, living in Boston while pursuing my passion, and working with the most amazing couples has been a dream of mine since I was 10 years old. Looking over the last 4 years has been the most humbling experience and I am so grateful for the amazing fellow creatives I have had the pleasure of meeting and working within this incredible industry.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been some learning curves along the way, and there are many more to come. Some obstacles have been when self-doubt creeps in out of nowhere and you really have to check yourself and remind yourself who you are. It oddly takes a lot of practice to talk to yourself with respect and love as you do with your clients or friends.

I think the biggest advice I can give to other young women starting out on any big journey in their lives is to take those learning curves in stride. Take everything that they have to offer and be the best version of yourself that you can be. It is so important to be genuine to who you are and continue to grow and learn as you build your business/brand/etc. from the ground up.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Namaste Photography, LLC. story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in couples and lifestyle portraiture. This includes such a broad spectrum of sessions such as weddings, families, business branding, etc. and I am incredibly lucky for that. I love having such unique clients in vastly different industries and at such different times in their lives.

I wanted to create a brand that emulated who I am as an individual and what I value. I think this alone sets me apart from others because my brand and my business are me. I put my heart and soul into every session I do because I wouldn’t want to do anything else in the world.

I value the uniqueness of each couple’s love. I value the in-between moments that bring intimacy and quiet smiles. I want to capture how he looks at her every day when she’s not looking. This is why I do what I do; to capture these moments that my clients will truly treasure for the rest of their lives.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Network. Network. Network. This industry is all about who you know and who knows you. Not only is it helpful to know other businesses in your industry to get started, it just makes it so much more fun to grow with the others around you and to promote a community within our group.

I am so grateful I found a mentor so early on in my career. She is truly incredible and someone that I have looked up to since I entered the wedding industry. I have learned so much from working with a fellow creative that is well-established, transparent, and so knowledgeable about what makes a business successful.

I highly recommend seeking out a mentor no matter what industry you have decided to go into. Not only will you gain so much knowledge, but you will gain another friend in the industry as well.
