Today we’d like to introduce you to Paloma Guerrero.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
So, about 2 years ago, I and my best friend would get dolled up and take pictures around our city to post on Instagram. After a posting good content, I started receiving dm’s from people that wanted to collab with me on photo shoots for their brands or even for their websites, so I began to book these shoots and get creative with others. Eventually, I decide all my hard work needed to be paid for so I started charging. I didn’t charge much but something small to start. Now, I still do a collab with others that really awe me with their work and also get paid to do different types of photoshoots or videos shoots, websites shoot sometimes, even hosting events.
Has it been a smooth road?
So far, it’s been smooth, I don’t think it will ever not be smooth because it’s something I love to do and you just have to have that vision, but sometimes I would just run out of ideas with outfits. My bank account isn’t loaded with money, so I couldn’t just go buy a different outfit every day I wanted to take pictures, so after a long week of shooting multiple outfits in my closet I’ll run out of ideas, which would make me lack with posting pictures.
The advice I have for any young women who are just starting their journey is to just start and stay consistent. Also make sure to do what you love to do, don’t let anyone tell you how to dress for your iPhone pictures or photoshoot, be yourself and make sure you’re happy. Stay positive and trust the process.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into MsGuerrerop story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a social media lover like many, but I use my social media to influence and inspire others. I post outfit pictures to show the world my sense of style and how I put specific pieces together, I also post my nails when I get them done because lately, I’ve been getting out of my comfort zone with my nail color and I want to inspire women to do the same because Ik a lot of us love sticking to the basic colors. I also have a YouTube account (Ms. Guerrero P) is my username. I make all types of videos, from fashion, to story times and challenges. I create videos so my followers can get to know me because you can’t really get to know anyone from a picture and I can actually show or talk to others about anything I’d like.
I’m known for modeling, fashion shows, being able to put a great outfit together and much more.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come, because before I started my journey I never thought I could even start let alone get this far. I’m not where I want to be but everyday I’m getting closer and I’m just going to keep creating and keep on working on my dreams everyday.
What’s sets me apart from others is that I’m my own person, I always love to be different and stand out, I’m also very creative and take my craft serious, I treat this as my full time job and I don’t get paid for it just yet but I have the mentality that I will eventually and I’m not stopping till I get to where I want to be.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
The most important piece of advice I could give a young wowman just starting her career is don’t be afraid of what others think because you’re the only one that knows what your goals are and you only live once so make sure you’re creating your life and not letting others create it for you because you’ll be miserable your whole life. Some tips I have is to buy a notebook and keep it with you at all times, so you have it handy when you get an idea and you can write tour long-term goals, weekly goals, monthly goals, and any goals you want to accomplish because we sometimes, seem to forget certain things we want to do so writing them will help you keep track of these things.
