Conversations with the Inspiring Nicolette Peloquin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolette Peloquin.

Nicolette, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
From the time, I was a little girl, I was always on the go. I was the kid who did homework and ate her dinner in the car on the way to cheerleading practice because I wouldn’t be home until late that night. If you had told me then where my busy life would lead me, I most certainly would not have believed you.

After years of competitive all star cheerleading, I hung up my cheerleading sneakers and traded them in for heels. I began competing in pageants. After many years of competing in a number of competitions, I won the title of Miss Rhode Island 2017 the day after I graduated from my undergraduate program at Salve Regina University.

While juggling my responsibilities as Miss Rhode Island, I was preparing for Miss America, started graduate school at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and volunteered/advocated for organizations such as Be the Match the National Bone Marrow Registry.

Miss America was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I learned so much about myself and grew immensely throughout the process. Right before I crowned a new Miss RI this past May, I auditioned for the fourth time to be a New England Patriots Cheerleader and made the team after many years of dreaming of the opportunity!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have always been a firm believer that every time the answer was “no”, it’s because there was a better “yes” coming my way. It took me 3 years to win Miss Rhode Island and 4 years to become a Patriots Cheerleader. Each time the answer was “no”, I found out some time later why that was the case and it always made sense.

If you can’t stop thinking about it, if it keeps you up at night, don’t let anyone stop you from achieving whatever it is. It is all about the law of attraction, we have the ability to manifest our goals from dreams, to reality. That goes for any man or woman looking to accomplish something in their life!

what should we know about your business? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Part-time, I work as a Patriots Cheerleader as I had mentioned but I also work in the public school system in two districts while I get my Masters degree. I am working towards my MEd/CAGs in school counseling at UMass Boston and will be graduating next May. I am hoping to become a middle school guidance counselor at that point in time.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
The best advice I would have would be, “Be fearless in pursuit of what sets your soul on fire”. Go for the job that maybe won’t make you the most money but because it is what you’re passionate about. Go for the position that you feel you just might be out of reach! You never know what will happen. Stepping out of your comfort zone leads to growth and that is the most beneficial thing you can do in your career and life.
