Conversations with the Inspiring Lei Ann Resurreccion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lei Ann Resurreccion.

Lei Ann, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My “official” job is being an acupuncturist for the past 13 years & a Chinese kung fu teacher/performer for over 20 years. I started blogging about fashion & travel as my own creative outlet. Even I don’t blog professionally, I have very much enjoyed the process & definitely the community that surrounds it. Some of my dearest friends I have met through blogging & I still love meeting new people all the time!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Blogging hasn’t necessarily been a smooth road, but I also didn’t get into it to monetize or become a full-time business. It has been my way to have fun, meet new people & do something different from my everyday working life. For any other women wanting to start out blogging, just be your authentic self and don’t try to emulate anyone else. Take what is special about you and that way, you will always have a point of view that is true to yourself.

What should we know about Lei Ann…Off Duty? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the acupuncturist for a spa/health club in Watertown. I specialize in sports medicine, musculoskeletal, and orthopedic issues, but I also perform acupuncture for general wellness and maintenance. In contrast, I have also been practicing Chinese kung fu for over 22 years and teach & train at both my school in Chinatown Boston & at Boston University. I think my different occupations both inform & complement each other, though they’re so different. Blogging for Lei Ann…Off Duty allows me to show off my creative, girly, feminine side in terms of what I’m wearing when I’m out & about in Boston or when traveling. In this way, I truly enjoy being able to express all aspects of my personality!

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Once again, be true to yourself, yet do your research & arm yourself with knowledge. Consider all choices, make your pros & cons list, but also listen to your own instincts & trust yourself 🙂
