Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Fladger.
Kristen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I became a hairstylist in 2006. I’ve been working in a salon since I was 15 years old and always knew to make people feel and look beautiful was my passion. I started out as a receptionist until I was able to work as an assistant while I was in cosmetology school. I hustled as much as I could, and in less than a year I became a full-time stylist. From day one, my true dream was to own my own business, which I achieved at 26 years old with two of my best friends. We have had the salon for over 5 years now, and I couldn’t have imagined the amount of success we have today. I have been lucky enough to travel across the country to LA, for education by celebrity stylists, to keep up with all of the latest color and style trends. Nothing makes me smile more than a happy client!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building your own business never starts off smooth. You have to spend a lot of time and hours of building your brand. I went from working for someone 5 days a week, to having to work 7 days a week, just to make myself available for clients. It’s hard work, but it always pays off if you hustle! My advice to young women is to always keep a positive mind. There will be tough days, somewhere you want to give up. But, you just have to believe in yourself and follow your passion. Everything always works out in the end!
What should we know about TreNoi Salon? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in cutting and color, such as foiling, balayage, foliage, hair painting, and color melting. Constantly wanting to learn and get as much education is what I believe sets me apart from others. Hairstylist tends to believe they know everything there is about hair, but there is always room to learn.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
There are plenty of opportunities for women, especially in the beauty industry. Women love to get advice on makeup, hair, and their appearance. The beauty industry is growing more and more every day.
