Conversations with the Inspiring Katelyn Baginski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelyn Baginski.

Katelyn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Corporate Glitter back in 2014 as a way to express and share my love for fashion and styling. My goal is to show other women that you CAN look chic and stylish without going over budget. I can not afford to shop at high-end boutiques or buy designer everything, so I try to find similar items and styles at more affordable prices – and then share them with you! There are so many “wallet-friendly” shops that stay up to date on trends – H&M, Target, and Amazon Fashion to name a few. I am also a sucker for finding designer deals, so stores like Nordstrom Rack and the TJX companies are high up on my list of faves. In terms of personal style, I am a “neutral” girl through and through, because it makes putting looks together so easy! Give me all the white, black and shades of sienna, and I’m a happy girl.

Pinterest and Instagram have always been places of inspiration for me. From keeping up with trends, to trying new silhouettes and outfit pairings. My hope is to inspire even just 1 of my followers to try something new. Fashion is all about how clothes makes you feel – and if I can influence someone to try something they never thought they would, and they end up feeling amazing and confident in it, then I’ve accomplished something.

Over the years, I’ve gravitated more towards Instagram as my main platform for sharing this passion, I still write blogs every now and then, but Instagram is much more convenient and allows me to quickly snap photos to share with my followers. I currently work full-time as the Marketing Manager for the MAC (Manchester Athletic Club) in Manchester, MA, but some day, I hope to be able to blog full time. For now, it is my “passion project” and I love sharing my finds with the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
This is definitely not easy! Instagram and the blogger world are always changing and it can be hard to keep up. One day it’s okay to post a millions hash tags and the next day it isn’t. The Instagram algorithm can be a killer too, because it makes it extra difficult to stay visible to your whole following. There is also the added pressure to be “perfect” on social media – you see so many people post beautiful photos, with perfect hair and the best clothes and it can really take a toll on you. Sometimes, if my photos don’t get as much engagement as I’d hoped, it leaves me feeling defeated and frustrated. I try my hardest not to focus on the numbers and to just enjoy the process and share what I love. My advice for anyone starting out is to constantly remind yourself why you started and stay true to who you are and what your vision is for your page.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Corporate Glitter story. Tell us more about the business.
I think what sets me apart from some other bloggers is that my feed isn’t “perfect”. I don’t have designer bags, I don’t travel to tropical destinations on the regular, heck, I don’t even have a professional photographer! My Husband, Mom or myself (#selftimer) take all my photos, I buy all of my own clothes, and I only work with brands that I can afford myself. I honestly, genuinely love sharing my fashion, home and lifestyle finds with my followers and hope to just be relatable. If I find a super cute jacket at Old Navy for under $30, you better believe I’m going to tell my followers about it. If it’s something that made me happy, I want to share it and hopefully make other people happy because they found a great piece at a great price.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Never apologize for being yourself, try to always stay positive, and never be afraid to ask for help! Reach out to others who are where you want to be – ask to grab coffee with someone just to pick their brain. Stay true to your style and values, try to find the silver lining, and learn from any setbacks. And above all – be kind to everyone you meet. People will remember that.
