Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlene Vella.
Darlene, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a stay at home mom of 4 (12, 10, 9 and 6) I always wanted to stay home with my kids and as far back as I can remember, I’d also wanted to one day own my own business and be an entrepreneur. I needed to make both of these dreams a reality so after having my 4 children, I started to work on my 5th and in 2012 BELLAVELLA was born. It is named after my children and the logo colors represent blue for the 3 boys and the very special pink V for my daughter.
Has it been a smooth road?
I loved all things culinary, I had a good palate for cooking and baking but I also knew that I had no formal training or education. I made sure to take my time to learn and let the business grow gradually on its own. My advice to any women starting a business is that learning is endless so keep educating yourself, never get complacent and always follow your instincts.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into BELLAVELLA, LLC story. Tell us more about the business.
BELLAVELLA makes homemade cookies and handcrafted desserts and we are proud/honored to say that we have won multiple awards for best cookies. dessert tables and favors. Our cookies are mostly traditional American and Italian, we do specialty cakes like whiskey, limoncello, and flourless chocolate, along with cupcakes and seasonal desserts, there are gluten free options as well. Our menu selection is designed so that each and every dessert and cookie has its own experience with your taste buds. At BELLAVELLA, we also love to create so if you have an idea, we love making it come to life. We customize and cater weddings, corporate and private events.

I’ve read a lot of bakery and business books and continue to do so but so far, one of my favorites is “A Place Of yes” by Bethenny Frankel She is strong and inspiring – I love that!
