Today we’d like to introduce you to Catarina Abreu.
LLeya P. is a women’s clothing line founded by Catarina Abreu in 2014. Originally from Cape Verde, Catarina grew up assisting her aunts who were seamstresses. The curiosity of wanting to learn how clothes were made sparked the idea to become a professional at it. Fast forward through her teen years, Catarina began creating her own clothing. LLeya P is about the uniqueness of each individual. We don’t follow trends but rather create pieces for you and you only.
The brand name came from Catarina’s daughter name which is Cattleya Perola. Cattleya is the name of an orchid and P for Perola translated to Pearl. This name means classy, eye-catching and timeless. LLeya P is a women’s apparel brand that focuses on creating great pieces to make individuals feel chic and classy. Our designs embody self-love, confidence, and empowerment. When you think of the word bold we want you to think of LLeya P. Majority of my clothing being versatile is essential for the 9-5 consumers. LLeya P target consumer ranges from ages 18-60 and sizes 4-18.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. As a young designer, my obstacles were getting people to see my vision. Another common obstacle is being challenged financially because at times I can’t afford to purchase expensive supplies that’ll enhance the look of your pieces.
I would advise other women is to focus on themselves and follow what they believe in. There are going to be people that will discourage you and will bring you down, however, stay positive and keep reminding yourself when you are in that career path.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into LLeya P. story. Tell us more about the business.

What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
In today’s society, women are much accepted in leadership roles as male. In some cases, women are seen as incapable of being a leader however not in Fashion Industry. I believe women can also succeed in leadership roles we just need to work harder.
