Thanks for sharing your story with us Amanda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As a makeup artist, I started out applying to friends and family mainly for Halloween looks. At the age of 30, I decided to attend school for aesthetics which allowed me to become licensed and learn about the skin in depth. Fast forwarding to the current date, I now specialize in bridal makeup and lash services.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Owning a business, I very tricky because you need to know your worth and stick to it. In the beginning, I offered many discounts to people I knew. Through the years, I’ve put my all into maintaining training, providing high-end products, and giving clients quality work. With that said, my advice to new owners would be to set a value, provide it to clients, and treat your business as one. People will respect and appreciate you more when you set those values forth.
What should we know about Modmakeup? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
At my studio, I offer makeup application, airbrush, false lashes, henna, lash lifts, lash extensions, lash/brow tinting, facial waxing, and facial peels. My main clientele has been bridal makeup clients but I love all of my clients and the ability to be versatile!
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
Most of my clients are referral based but I would love to create a blog to broaden my audience.
