Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex DiBacco.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I graduated from college and took a gap year to apply to graduate school while nannying. In the meantime, I started an Instagram and blog for Chasing Daisies. It was very early on when I realized that I absolutely love everything about this type of content creation! The psychology behind different types of posts, the design aspect and the constant seasonal changes are all pieces I didn’t expect to enjoy so much. I found this is such a great way to communicate with others. One of the huge perks was seeing that there’s a hugely supportive community in the blogging and influencer sector, especially in New England!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
At first, one of my biggest challenges was getting everything to match visually. Using Lightroom for Instagram was a huge game changer for me! As my brand progressed, the most consistent struggle has been that there isn’t a handbook for how to do any of these things. Every time I come across something new that I haven’t learned, such as photo editing, hashtags, backlinks, WordPress plugins, etc., I have to do research and teach myself how to do it.
what should we know about Chasing Daisies? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a New England blogger and influencer with focuses on style, lifestyle, beauty, and travel. I started off mainly on my Instagram and blog, which are my most popular platforms but am recently branching out to include other social media and content creation opportunities. What really makes me different (in my opinion) is my style. While I very much love the true preppy look and lifestyle, my personality is to change it up
I went to college in Miami for four years and I find it really hard to leave the cosmopolitan lifestyle and look behind. I try to piece together elements of both! For me, where you live can dictate what your lifestyle and fashion will be, so it’s great to live in a spot that has so many different looks.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Within the blogging industry alone, there are SO many opportunities for women. There are so many women in the Instagram and blogging world of all ages that inspire me. Everyone has an incredibly unique feed and there’s a market for almost anything. You can do graphic arts, become a photographer, specializing in SEO, etc. It starts as one idea and can turn into so many other things. A lot of bloggers have even started their own brands or companies, which is really amazing!
