Check out Yvonne Masters’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Masters.

Yvonne, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Being creative is in my blood. Ever since I was a child, I can remember sitting and painting or drawing for hours that seemed like minutes. I like to give my creative talents credit to my biological grandfather. He used to paint beautiful canvases of pirate ships and nature. Over the years, I would give my paintings as gifts. then one day I was told that I should try selling them, and it turned out to be a wonderful thing! I have sold many paintings and continue to do so. I am inspired by sunsets, sunrises, Renaissance times, tropical Islands, spiritual things, and nature. Having been born in St. Petersburg, FL, maybe my love for tropical water and sunsets derives from that. I don’t know. I was brought to MA when I was 7 years old and having been through a traumatic childhood with abusive foster homes, well, my art was my escape. I remember being in Nevada and a Reiki healer told me I was a healer and I literally laughed at the thought: then on my way back to my hotel, I recalled doing crystal healing on my friends in my early 20’s. I didn’t think anything of it at the time because I knew nothing of healing, reiki, chakras, etc… at least in my conscious mind. Point being, the energy flows through my paintbrush or whatever tool I am using to create. I am a Reiki healer, jewelry designer, and creator.

About 7 years ago, I constructed this rear view mirror beaded thing… I didn’t think much of it but as I went through my favorite local Dunkin Donuts, the women at the window were freaking out about it, saying they wanted one, etc. It was this simple acrylic bead with some left over beads from a bracelet that had broken. I was literally like, “what..what do you want? That thing?” It was hilarious to me at the time, but I really had no idea why they wanted one. So, I created a beaded thing that they could hang up wherever… I didn’t have a name for it, nor did I really know what I was doing.. Well, at the end of the day, I sold a unique “hangy thing” for $25.. The woman who bought it absolutely adored it.. she told me she hung it in her dying mother’s hospital room and when the mother had passed, she gave it to her daughter, because it reminded her of her Grandmother… at that moment, obviously being the sensitive empath I am, and just a sensitive person in general, I teared up… something in me clicked, like, “wow, these things really have meaning for people.” So, I started brainstorming and the next day, I was in the DD line again and I was like, “what should I call these things…” the name, “Crystal Guardian,” came to my mind and it resonated with me and they seemed to like it.

From that point on, I started making these energy charged Crystal Guardians. I made one of a kind ones and was selling them and taking orders from friends, people at the gym, etc. I changed the design and now they are much better and more expensibe… I created a logo that has an Angel wing and halo and the Loves, Heals, Protects slogan. Sterling silver CG logo pieces adorn each of my one of a kind Crystal Guardians which now have Swarovski crystals, beading, and healing crystals such as Rose Quartz, Hematite, Amethyst, etc. From these Crystal Guardians, my X boyfriend’s mother suggested I make jewelry: bracelets, etc.. So, basically, the rest is history… I now create beautiful handmade leather healing bracelets, rings, foot jewelry, necklaces, the list goes on… which has since blossomed into me creating unique bridal jewelry, crowns, beaded chokers, bracelets, chain mail, you name it! I take custom orders and sometimes people love what I already have here! It is endless at what I am able to do and If I am not making jewelry I am creating beautiful NRG artwork which I also sell in my store here in Mystic, CT. I remember my Reiki healer one day during a session saying, “Yvonne, it’s time for you to have your own business.. ” I was 26 at the time and well, not ready… timing is everything for sure… I am SO grateful that I can use my gifts that God gave me and were passed down from my Grandfather, and who knows who else, and have a business being a healer, and creator… which is why I am here on Earth. 🙂

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Oh wow… well, I didn’t realize this part was here too… haha… I think I pretty much answered these questions in the last section. Since I am a healer, and basically a therapist… people come to me going through just about anything and everything we all do at some point in our lives possibly, and they come to me for guidance. Sometimes, they are drawn to certain crystals and then I read the meanings of them, as they all have metaphysical healing properties and they are like, “OMG, I need that..” literally, that’s verbatim what they say… I love it because I know that they trust me to give them exactly what they need to hear and buy for their own healing.. They know that I will suggest what I can if they just give me some insight as to what is going on. the feedback is always so wonderful. My “guests,” as I like to call them… not customers… are my inspiration. They inspire me everyday to create beautiful healing pieces. No one taught me, I just kind of went for it and taught myself and when with it. It’s a part of who I am. We are each other’s light in a sense. I help people to see things from a different perspective. I have been told my jewelry has “magical powers.” I kind of laugh, but I smile because I know the love that goes into each piece. I absolutely love and am passionate about what I do and I encourage other people who have creative gifts to do the same.. as if God gave you a gift, and you don’t open it, well, that’s a shame and it’s like tossing it into the trash being ungrateful. As far as my paintings, people FEEL them. So, I have been told. People will look at certain pieces for several minutes and say, ” I need that.” They just feel the energy coming from them and it resonates for different reasons, as each person’s perception is their reality, right? Whether it’s my artwork or my jewelry, I am blessed to be able to help so many people feel wonderful and inspire them to follow their hearts.

How can artists connect with other artists?
OMG, I don’t know where that came from, but for me personally, being alone with my paintbrush, soothing music, and iced coffee either at home or in nature, well, I am definitely NOT lonely… being alone is the BEST time to let your creative juices flow.. at least for me… I love my friends and family, of course, but creating jewelry and painting is WHO I AM and it is super relaxing and therapeutic. If one truly loves what they do and they love their own company, well, how can one be lonely? HMMM… plus, I am always surrounded by Angels.. my Dad being one of them.. my father who adopted me who is on his next journey wherever that may be.. One has to love their own company before anyone else will love it too… my advice is know who you are and what resonates with you so you have things to talk about… you won’t be for everyone, and that’s OK! You don’t want to be for everyone. Your vibe will attract your tribe as the saying goes… as you raise your vibration, certain people come across your path… everyone you meet has a message for you, sometimes it’s to connect and further your creativity, etc… get on Instagram, Facebook, LinkdIN, and connect with like minded people… go to art festivals, etc. most importantly, HAVE fun with it. Art is the creation of one’s emotions! I think at least. You have to believe in you before anyone else will, right? Believe in your work and brag about that Shhhh! 🙂 Other like minded people who value their work as well, will appreciate your confidence… trust me… hope that helps.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
