Today we’d like to introduce you to Safiya Nawabzada.
Safiya, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was and still am a weird kid. I’ve always seen the world differently than others as my imagination is my best friend. As one gets older they are told to conform to a certain mindset and way of life without creativity, but that’s not a life I strive to live. I am and will forever be a 5-year-old at heart.
As a young adult, I have faced “grown-up” problems but that never stopped me from capturing the unique world that I see.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I aspire to show the “normal” world the secret intimate moments one share with themselves on the daily bases. I desire to capture the essence of the people I meet and the places I go because everything has a unique story to tell, and as we all know a picture is worth a thousand words.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Most people think having a lot of money, or a well-paying job is a success when in reality you are successful when you are happy. You are successful when you are surrounded by genuine people who love you and challenge you to be a better person. You are successful when your work inspires others to do good in the world. You are successful when you’ve changed the lives around you.
