Art & Life with Leah Coughlin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Coughlin.

Leah, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
First and foremost, I am mother to the most beautiful little boy, Daniel. He is the kindest, sweetest, not to mention the most adorable face I have ever seen. He is my inspiration and the absolute love of my life. I have four sisters and two brothers and family is everything to me. I have been very blessed, I love my life and my family and friends. They are all so ridiculously supportive and amazing!

York, Maine is my happy place and I escape to it whenever I have the chance, even if it’s just for the day. I am also lucky enough to share in people’s lives on a daily basis with my photography. I have a small photography studio located in Walpole Ma. I love lifestyle photography and (and every client knows this about me) I always make you ‘jump in’ the photo even if your hair isn’t done or your makeup isn’t on. because I truly believe that it’s really important. Your children don’t care if you have messy hair, they just want you to be there. they love those snuggles and the kisses and the hugs and the joy. When I look through my camera, I see pure joy. I see how much you love your children and families and I want to show you what I see. I also have the opportunity to pay it forward at my studio which is one of the things I love about being a business owner.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
There really isn’t a session that I don’t love, Cake smashes are so wonderfully messy, our mini sessions are always filled with smiles and laughs and hugs. and of course, cupcakes and treats for the littles.

I love our maternity photo shoots because I get to witness the joy of that little miracle growing and the joy in the families faces in anticipation.

I also offer boudoir photography which includes a fabulous makeup application from Jackie Andrews, https://www.facebook.com/919beauty/. What I love about these sessions is that I get to show the clients how beautiful they are.

What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
“Taking pictures is savoring life intensely every hundredth of a second.”
Mark Riboud
