Art & Life with Jennifer Lucey-Brzoza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Lucey-Brzoza.

Jennifer, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My life has always been about creativity and the arts. It is how I think and process and I often say, I knew at an early age, it was how I was designed. I studied art with a focus on photography and conceptual art making. My career developed organically into a designer of brands, owning and operating a small branding and design studio in Somerville. I also maintain a personal creative practice in image making and performance.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a designer during the day and an artist at night. I love to explore history, philosophy, art, the visual world and my career allows me to integrate all of this. Each project is unique and has the potential to educate me about something new. There is a story to be told in everything and I really enjoy uncovering the essence of each project and finding a way to translate it in to my native language, the visual.

Artists rarely, if ever pursue art for the money. Nonetheless, we all have bills and responsibilities and many aspiring artists are discouraged from pursuing art due to financial reasons. Any advice or thoughts you’d like to share with prospective artists?
On my path, I chose to create a steady income independent of my personal work. This has afforded me a creative and autonomous life with lots of flexibility. There are so many ways to live a life and I think listening to what feels right and following your heart is always a good practice.
