Art & Life with DnMA Photography, Michelle Marnon and David Prothero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Marnon and David Prothero.

How much time do you have? Creativity has flowed through our veins for a collective 86 years. Whether it be through music, dance, painting, sketching, building and yes even photography the need to create is always right in the forefront. They met nearly 4 years ago on Instagram admiring each other’s unique perspective in imagery. Sometimes not looking for romance is the best way to find it. And so started their love story, their little adventure. Dave was raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu, nope he’s not Hawaiian. The notion of family or ‘ohana is not simply blood relatives, but all those who are placed in your life. Treat others with respect and kindness and expect only the same in return. Michelle is a Michigander. A born dancer and artist she’s always loved the natural world. Her sanctuary is a serene pond surrounded by woods and occupied by a family of beavers (not talking) and a swan couple. Both of their beginnings are truly the foundations by which they express their perspectives.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
We share not only a love for each other but all things natural, and peaceful and delicious of course. Trying to never take ourselves too seriously, we endeavor daily to recognize the beauty right around us. Photography is the tool by which we express our perspectives. We encouraging others to take pause in this busy world and love that simple moment. Just make sure your feet are firmly placed under your shoulders and prepare yourself to be blown away by the wonderful moments in your own life. We all live spectacular lives, sometimes it just takes a great photographer to point that out.

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
One of the most wonderful things in life is our ever expanding creativity. You stop growing physically by the time you’re twenty, but your art should never stop growing. Finding new challenges and inspiration constantly spur growth and further development. Keeping this river of creativity flowing is a paramount matrix for us to define success. Asking ourselves a few questions periodically help define our perspective of success. Did you grow? Is your impact on others a positive one? Is your result worth the effort? If we can answer yes to each of these questions then we’ve established success for this moment, but don’t stop there. The story continues, our adventure awaits.
