Meet Yuri Shamritsky of North Shore & Brookline Endodontics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yuri Shamritsky.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Yuri. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Before moving to the United States, I earned my Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) degree at the University of Moscow Dental School. I continued my dental education at Boston University School of Dental Medicine (BUSDM), where I received a DMD and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Endodontics. In 1997, I was fortunate enough to join the North Shore & Brookline Endodontics (NSBENDO) specialty practice. It became my professional home and now, twenty years and thousands of saved teeth later, I’m so glad I have both permanent and prominent place in the colorful mosaic of our practice.

Daily, I bring to patients my extensive expertise and compassion. I use the latest technology to improve clinical results and communications with my patients and their dentists. I am also fortunate to work with the group at NSBENDO who shares my goals and objectives and who cares about the patients in our office.

For a decade I served as an Assistant Clinical Professor and the Director of Predoctoral Endodontics, and later as a Director of Microendodontic program at the Department of Endodontics at BUSDM. It was both challenging and rewarding to train the first generation of endodontists who had to learn how to use surgical operating microscopes for treatment of root canals and to adapt microsurgical techniques for oral surgery procedures. Over one hundred and twenty residents were trained at BU Endo during my tenure and I still stay in touch with many of them. It is a wonderful feeling to hear their success stories and know that I’m a tiny part of it.

I truly believe in strength in numbers, so I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the Massachusetts Association of Endodontics and the American Association of Endodontists, where I have served on multiple committees. I am also proud to have served as the past President of the North Shore District Dental Society and the current Chair of the Beverly Dental Association.

North Shore Endodontics was started in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1962 by Dr. Harold Levin. At that time he was the only endodontist between Boston and Montreal, Canada. Dr. Levin was joined by Dr. Robert Rosenkranz and Dr. Peter Morgan, and together they grew the practice to a multi-office, multi-doctor practice.

Dr. Levin and Dr. Rosenkranz have retired from practice, and I am fortunate to have Dr. Peter Morgan, Dr. Fiza Singh and Dr. Andrew Bradley as partners. Together, we have continued to grow the practice, which now includes six offices and seven endodontists.

In 2009, the practice acquired Brookline Endodontics and together we are now known as North Shore & Brookline Endodontics (NSBENDO). We are very proud to have Brookline Endodontics as part of our endodontic specialty group, as it was here that Dr. Herbert Schilder first brought his ideas for modern endodontic treatment to his patients and introduced the “Schilder Technique” to dentistry. I was most fortunate to have Dr. Schilder as a mentor during my studies at BU. He continued to shape my professional life for another decade as a colleague and an educator.

Endodontists and patients all over the world have benefited from Dr. Schilder’s teachings and modern concepts, which resulted in a simpler, more effective and painless method of saving natural teeth from extraction. At NSBENDO, we reflect the same commitment to exacting standards of care that were taught and practiced by Dr. Schilder in his practice years ago.

For over 50 years, our reputation for clinical skill and professionalism has led trusted local dentists to refer their patients to our practice. We honor this trust by providing our patients with prompt attention, high-quality care, and respect. We work in an environment that exceeds the highest standards of sterilization and cleanliness, and continuously incorporate significant improvements in endodontic technology. These improvements, coupled with our enduring commitment to clinical excellence and personalized patient care, have enabled our endodontists to provide better and more efficient treatment.

Please tell us about North Shore & Brookline Endodontics.
North Shore & Brookline Endodontics (NSB Endo) is a specialty practice limited to root canal therapy. Our mission is to alleviate dental pain and save teeth that would otherwise be lost. We use the latest advancements in endodontic treatment to ensure patients experience the most comfortable, gentle and effective treatment possible.

At NSB Endo, our primary goal is to help patients save their natural teeth. Our practice specializes in Endodontics, commonly referred to as root canal therapy. We provide patients with both routine and urgent endodontic care.

Every day we see patients whose lives have been interrupted by dental pain and infection. We are here to relieve that pain, and get patients back to their routine. Our doctors possess the knowledge, experience, and technology to manage dental symptoms and save teeth with a simple, pain and anxiety-free procedure. Our highly trained and experienced staff makes sure that our patients receive the best experience possible.

The endodontists at NSB Endo have all received certificates of advanced graduate studies from Boston University, Harvard, Tufts, and other prestigious institutions. Endodontists are dentists with two or more years of advanced education and training in root canal techniques and procedures. In addition to treating routine cases, they are experts in performing complicated procedures and treating difficult cases.

Name one thing that sets your practice apart?
With six convenient locations, and office hours six days a week, patients can count on NSB Endo to be there when they need us. We offer flexible appointment scheduling that allows us to see emergency patients as soon as possible. Our modern offices are equipped with the latest advances in dental technology, allowing us to care for teeth with precision. Our patient’s health and comfort are our highest priority.

As a leader in the endodontic community, we are committed to achieving the best possible outcome for every patient who comes to us for care.

Who else deserves credit?

Our 7 endodontists, 12 administrative team members and 18 dental assistants each bring new ideas and capabilities to the table, but all share in one common goal: To provide patients with compassion and exceptional endodontic care.

Although I cannot list each of our 37 team members, I am very proud of each and every one of them. A few team members to mention are the 7 endodontists and two top managers.
