Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyndi Hart.
Cyndi brings a skill set straight from Los Angeles where she trained at the Aveda Institute; then she went on to craft her skill for the past 11 years amongst Hollywood celebs & trendsetters and most recently on Newbury Street in Boston. After years in LA, Santa Barbara and now Boston she has found her home at haven and hair in Belmont with a former colleague and student from the Aveda Institute of Los Angeles.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was a hard road, but worth every step. I went to college in Boston for marketing – after a few years in the corporate world, I was done. I moved to la when I was 25; working in publishing I decided I would go to hair school at night. Working 9-5, school 6-10pm every day for almost two years. During school she spent any free time I had doing photo shoots, weddings, fashion shows, tv and web series…. any time I could get my hands on hair I did. Whether it was paid or free. I built up my resume so when I graduated, I was able to land a job at a very high-end salon on Robertson Blvd in West Hollywood. I faced a lot of challenges, whether it be starting a clientele over in different areas, moving, etc. I feel as though having a strong yelp profile, photos, resume, a website had carried me so far. It’s a challenging road but so worth it, in the end, to make our own schedule, have creative control, do what you love! All worth it!

I really focus on doing what the clients are comfortable with but also opening their eyes to what would best suit their face shape, skin tone, lifestyle, I listen and care! That’s the most important piece I think. I want it to be something clients are happy with every day whether it’s professionally blown out or air dried at home. I love to add a natural balayage to a brunette or pop a blonde to a level she had never had before and rock it but all in a healthy way! If your hair isn’t healthy it won’t look good- period. I try to educate my clients every step of the way – so they know exactly what I’m doing and why and how to maintain. My clients have faith that I have their best interest in mind at all times.
I love being a part of a brides special day or adding extensions to someone who is lacking the fullness or length they once had or never had. An amazing dry cut they never knew was possible is also another specialty of mine. I love to give a client a new lived in a dry cut that moves with them, gives them style and edge but also softness of a great classic cut.
I am most proud of the report I build with my clients, we have a bond of trust- they trust I will do what is best for the health of their hair but also give them a look like no one else can. I feel very invested In making people feel a little bit happier in their life, even if it’s just a good convo and some lovely hair
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I grew up a competitive figure skater: this set me apart drastically. I had to accept being good enough for myself and knowing I did my best no matter what some judge may feel. I had to push myself since it’s not a team sport; it’s all on you! I loved the drive it gave me for life and knowing no matter what, what you put in will give you self-fulfillment if you’re willing to accept, you did your best.
