Today we’d like to introduce you to Traeger Di Pietro.
Traeger, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Eighteen years ago, I was invited to work on Martha’s Vineyard with my lifelong best friend chef Matt Oneil. After graduating from college, it seemed like a fun idea and a great place to paint. I showed up in 2000 and never left. Ever since the first summer, I have been here on Marthas Vineyard painting and showing in galleries across the country.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I drove a truck for 16 years breaking my back. I would work for eight hours a day, go home, eat, then paint till 12 at night… then I’d do the same thing all over again the next day. It was hard on my body, so I decided to choose painting as a full-time gig.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with your work – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My company is traegerdipietro.com. I make original fine art paintings in various mediums.
I am known for my contemporary mixed media paintings, for example, a boy blowing glitter onto a star and also my more traditional oil paintings of Martha’s vineyard clamdiggers and boats.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The goal is to continue to be inspired by life and also to continue to try and create positive and inspiring art.
