Meet Susan Rossi of BetterLiving Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan Rossi.

Susan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Walpole Mass and raised my 4 children there. I was raising my children and supporting my husband with his Home construction business always being involved with real estate one way or another. I have owned income properties, and the family home business I was exposed and involved in new construction daily. When my last child entered into public school, although still a full-time mom, I researched the best way to continue to be a present mom, but have a career in which I could still be with my children. I realized that helping people had always been something that I desired to do. I applied to school to become a paramedic.

After graduating and getting my certification as a paramedic, I sat for the test to become a firefighter knowing that I would work two twenty four hour shifts a week and have five days a week to be available to the children. At the age of 43, I attended the Massachusetts Fire Academy and got certified in FIre I and II and began my career as a firefighter/paramedic. After years of working as a public servant, I was injured on duty at a house fire. I could no longer continue my career in the fire service due to my injury, which was a difficult thing to accept. I truly loved my job, helping people at their darkest and most stressful moments. While recovering from several surgeries, I had time to rediscover what I could do to still help people. With much soul searching, I realized I could still help people with my background in real estate. I went to school to and sat for the Massachusetts state test for real estate sales.

I started out working with the national brands, and a local independent agency. Although I was successful in the beginning, helping people purchase and sell their homes, I felt that the atmosphere within the franchise companies was more about making money and not at all about helping people. I was going to give up and look for other work as it was very frustrating being just a warm body in a franchise that didn’t care about their Realtors or their clients, but more about the bottom line…… money. I was approached by an old friend of mine during this shift in my life who had been part of a new brokerage that sounded to be good to be true. We talked often about me coming on board. I was still unsure if I would continue to work in real estate.

After a few months, reading over the business plan and the way the company was structured, and their motto “a Better Living for a Better Life” I took a chance and joined the brokerage Better Living Real Estate. I am now a Vice President and a Team Leader, helping other agents become successful in their careers.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In the beginning of my career in real estate, it was not easy. None of the companies I had worked for had any training, help, or support. Most companies just get assigned a desk and you were on your own. Real Estate school teaches a student how to pass the state exam, not how to be an active, knowledgeable, skilled person helping people buy or sell one of their biggest assets in their life. Building trust, and keeping educated in the ever-changing rules, and laws of real estate law is essential.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with BetterLiving Real Estate – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Better Living Real Estate starts with the belief that real estate is all about Helping People and families. We have the belief that real estate should be so much more than about money when done correctly. When a company puts their clients, agents, and community first, you will never have to worry about money. I can attest to that.

I started at the company as a REALTOR™, quickly becoming a Regional Vice President and Team leader. Supporting new agents become experts in the field, by working smarter, accomplishing their client’s real estate goals. I am known for being very attentive to my client’s needs and goals leaving them in a better place and shape than before first meeting them. Afterall, our philosophy is to operate under the highest ethical standards. At Better Living, Real estate both the associates and clients are our two most important assets.

I am very proud to be associated with this company mission. To create a better living and life for myself and most importantly the clients. Having a mobile platform gives me the freedom to be available to my family and at the same time being able to help my clients by having everything I need wherever I am. Our broker has developed the software that gives us all the mobile office technology at our fingertips. There are no egos within our brokerage. We treat each other like family members. It is a team-oriented approach helping and supporting one another.

I wake up every day excited to start my day, being a part of such a caring and ethical team by helping families and making a positive impact on the old fashion American dream. By being able to do what I do, in the atmosphere that makes it easy to always put a happy, fun spin on the sometimes stressful changes in your clients lives, staying true to your beliefs, makes me truly love my job.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My goals are to continue sponsoring other agents by joining Better Living Real Estate and to continue to train agents to become successful in their field. I thoroughly enjoy working with people who are buying and selling real estate. I don’t ever think I will stop helping families build wealth through real estate. I find that my former clients become very special friends. What is better than that?
