Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan D’Antona.
Susan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I opened my first salon in 1992 and I became a part of the ENTERTAINERS NETWORK. At that time, hair Extensions were considered only for people in the public eye or entertainment industry. Certainly not readily available for All salon customers.
I was assigned to be MEGA HAIR ELITE BOSTON Salon. Clients came from all over the world for our mathematically custom blended extensions. I was asked to perform platform work in New York City, demonstrating our unique hair extensions to some of the industry’s finest.
Being featured in the Boston Globe as well as Boston’s Chronicle gave me the chance to branch out to customers not only who wanted my specialized extensions, but to those who truly needed them. Working with women and children suffering from devastating conditions such as Cancer, Alopecia and thinning hair became life changing! Creating the most light weight prosthetic wigs that even Dana Farber Cancer Institute, one of the Nation’s leaders in Cancer treatment endorsed my systems.
For those who are candidates, I have also created hair INTEGRATION SYSTEMS, meaning, I use the client’s natural hair and actually integrate the finest human hair to give the customer their own vision of what they want their hair to be. Not only women seek out my services. I have men who seek out my hair replacement options as well.
I am beyond moved when a client looks at themselves with their new found confidence and pride. I actually see their transformation as soon as they look in the mirror.

Has it been a smooth road?
Every road is paved with obstacles, challenges and surprises. But every brick has formed my solid foundation. Everyday my heart and soul goes into defining my skills and creativity. My next challenge would be to spear head a non-profit organization. A place where children, whatever their circumstances, would receive their perfect hair. A salon where they arrive with their favorite doll who received the identical perfect hair. I think of the comfort when the doll accompanies them through their treatment, through their obstacles. There are no words to describe the satisfaction! Seeing the life changing effects on adults, being given their “Crown of Glory” would only be magnified with children!
I have learned that “brick by brick” means building a business where the sky is the limit. I will continue to dream, create and grow.

My focus has always been, every customer can and should have their “Crown of Glory.” I make available systems for all customers, whatever their personal vision or needs, their own individual style.
Although we are nationally known for our high quality, human hair systems, the Salon features the finest services. Cutting edge stylists, who use the fines products for color, foil, Ombre’, eyelash extensions, even tanning.
We pride ourselves on giving our customers a place where they receive the service that they deserve. A place where they feel comfortable as well as comforted and loved. Every one of my Mega Hair Elite customers becomes a part of a very precious member of our salon family.

My company thrives to bring all our services such as eyelash extensions, hair extensions and replacement, Ombré, baliage, foiling, cutting, straightening, and keratin treatments to the best level of service possible. We’re known for Hair Extensions and hair replacement.
I am most proud that I can help women that have no confidence because of thinning hair, or no hair. Make them feel beautiful again and get through whatever they are going through feeling human again. I think my expertise are customer service and the love I have for what I do sets me apart from other salons.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The industry has changed dramatically since my inception in 1992. However, I still see salons and stylists making Hair systems unaffordable and unattainable to each and every customer seeking these services. I have had customers come to me with drastically inferior work that I transform. There is an incredible need for training by professionals like myself. My skills, quality, consistency and integrity are sorely needed. I have always been available to travel to other salons and share my craft.
Salon “Boutiques” that encompass special hair needs as a medium should be the goal. Hair is no longer just an “Aesthetic” asset. It creates, transforms and at times gives new life. It allows our customers to be their natural and comfortable selves and their own version of whom they aspire to be.
