Meet Stephanie Kube of Veterinary Neurology and Pain Management Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Kube.

Stephanie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I worked at a large, corporate practice and for years felt that my clients were not getting the personal attention, nor care they deserved for their pets. For a client to bring in a beloved dog or cat to a specialty hospital with a neurological problem, or some problem that truly needs a specialist takes a very special and dedicated pet parent.

At the corporate hospitals, to no fault of doctors, they often get lost in the shuffle, get stuck with interns (new doctors) or emergency doctors (not specialists). This drove me crazy! I decided to open up a boutique-like specialty practice where owners could bring their pets to see specialists directly!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly, the hardest part was the beginning. Trying to jump through all the hoops to get a loan to start a business and getting the approval from the town to have a veterinary clinic took a lot of time and patience. Another difficult aspect of opening a new business is to find dedicated employees who feel the same way about our clients and their pets as I do!

My staff is absolutely amazing in their own right. They are highly skilled and go above and beyond for all of our clients. Otherwise, I feel like I’ve been welcomed with open arms in the community. We love being in Walpole and close to the Patriots and Gillette Stadium.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Veterinary Neurology and Pain Management Center of New England is a small, boutique-like practice that focuses on helping people and their pets that are having neurological problems (trouble walking, seizures, disk issues, brain tumors, etc) and pain (any causes of pain) and orthopedic issues (cruciate injuries, joint problems, etc).

We offer personalized care with state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatments. We have MRI, CT, digital x-ray, laboratory, EEG, EMG, hearing tests and the ability to do a gait analysis on site. We offer treatments such as minimally-invasive surgery, arthroscopy, neurosurgery (brain surgery, spinal surgery), hyperbaric oxygen therapy, stem cell therapy, and physical therapy on site for our patients.

I am most proud of my amazing staff and the passion they have for our patients. We are truly able to give our patients the personal touch that they will not find at any other hospital in the state, and honestly, probably in all of New England! We are able to offer comprehensive services and testing of an incredibly high caliber, the level you would expect from one of the top human hospitals in Boston!

What were you like growing up?
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a veterinarian. I got my first doctor kit as a kid and proceeded to listen to all the dogs and cats hearts and lungs!

I grew up in Framingham and traveled around a lot for my education. My veterinary degree was from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. I did a small animal internship in Los Angeles, California and a neurosurgery internship in Athens, Georgia!

Then I moved all the way back across the country to do a Neurology/Neurosurgery residency in Davis, California at UC Davis. Despite all the wonderful places I lived through the years, I wanted nothing more than to come home to Massachusetts and New England! I absolutely love it here!!!
