Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefan Mercier.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We are a company focused on class trips and campus tours for students, parents and teachers. Our motto is : travel – engage – learn – experience.
GO has a fantastic team of dedicated travelers all working together to create memorable travel experiences for students and teachers.
Our mission is this: Our team is dedicated to creating memorable, educational, inspiring, affordable, safe and customized travel experiences for school communities through long-lasting relationships and impeccable customer care.
We do not pay kickback and incentives to organizers. This is a long time practice by some larger players in the industry and it is creating inflation in the market- students are paying for the benefits organizers get from the tour companies.
GO pioneered the concept of Travel Scholarships – teachers and organizers that refer GO to other teachers and organizers can earn GTS for their students when the other groups book a trip with GO.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
HR has been a challenge. Having been 30 years in this industry it seems the last few years have been challenging in finding the right people.
We don’t dig ditches but the service industry is challenging and it does require a certain level of intensity. Without passing judgment on any generation, we seemed to have gone through a period where some elements of the work ethic and discipline were lost.
This seems to have subsided and we have a very dedicated team.
Please tell us about GO Educational Tours llc.
As I mentioned earlier we try to innovate and focus on customer service. Differentiation is more difficult in a busy space.
Our goal and daily is focus is to create memorable class trip experiences for teachers and their students.
Our Tour leaders make the difference on a trip and we put a lot of effort in their training. They are a large part of our success.
