Today we’d like to introduce you to Leonetta Scappini & Emily Pina.
Leonetta & Emily, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After working together for at a local accounting firm together for over 10 years, we decided that the firm was no longer the right fit for us professionally as well as personally. On a personal level, we were looking for a better work-life balance while raising our children; professionally, we saw a need for an accounting firm on the South Shore focused on customer service and offering a more personalized service. From there, we set out to create Scappini & Pina, P.C., where our goal is to act as a resource to our clients in helping them navigate a complex tax and regulatory environment. We service small business owners and individuals with their tax and accounting needs. We truly enjoy being able to assist our clients from a financial perspective so that they can focus on the core of their businesses.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Since we opened our doors the business has been operating smoothly. The biggest challenge for us was deciding to take the initial leap; the idea of establishing a solid client base was daunting. We were quickly relieved to find that our existing networks and relationships allowed us to overcome this obstacle in a short period of time. We have built a strong network of professionals around us, which has provided us not only with a constant stream of referrals, but more importantly with the ability to connect our clients with other trusted professionals. Our growing client base is always spreading the word about the quality personalized service they are receiving.
More recently, a challenge that has presented itself involves the growth of the firm – it has always been our goal to maintain a small firm environment which is flexible both for us and for our clients, and this can become difficult with an ever-expanding client base.
We have dealt with this challenge by trying to focus on the types of clients we can best serve and by mindfully hiring associates that can best help us serve our clients.

Scappini & Pina, P.C. is a full service certified public accounting firm located in Norwell, Massachusetts providing a wide range of services to small to medium sized business clients, individuals, municipalities, and nonprofit organizations. We serve clients in a variety of industries and specialize in providing comprehensive business and individual tax planning and preparation services. We pride ourselves on serving our clients in a manner that is timely, professional, and cost-efficient. Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We feel very fortunate that our paths crossed over ten years ago; beyond that, we believe hard work and dedication have played a much larger part in our business than luck. We both possess an entrepreneurial mindset and have always aspired to own a business. Being able to go into business together has made the experience all that much more enjoyable. A partnership made sense for us because we trust each other implicitly and have always enjoyed a great working and personal relationship – in addition to being business partners we are each other’s closest friend.
