Meet Sarah Roth-Oosten of La Petite Boutique in Winthrop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Roth-Oosten.

La Petite Boutique is owned and operated by Sarah Roth-Oosten, a Winthrop native. Sarah started her career with organizing and choreographing fashion shows at prestigious art universities. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in Psychology and French, she went on to earn a Master’s Degree in International Business with a focus on Entrepreneurship from a University in the Netherlands. Afterwards, Sarah moved to France where she started her own fashion event production company called HYPE Fashions (www.hypefashions.com) which she continues to manage today. Her love for fashion and decorating has led her to La Petite Boutique, a culmination of all things chic.

In 2015, Sarah launched La Petite Boutique – On the Go, a fashion truck that travels around Boston for summer markets and events. It is a mobile boutique designed like a walk in closet and is available for private parties.

Has it been a smooth road?
There are always challenges when figuring out how to bring your business to the next level and how to stay relevant. But with a lot of support of family and friends, I’ve been able to persevere.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the La Petite Boutique story. Tell us more about the business.
I am the owner and operator. I have a background in fashion and marketing so it made sense for me to open my own boutique. I am proud to offer a unique product at a great price. I also offer people an outlet to sell their new and gently used items so it’s a win-win for everyone!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The retail space, for new and used items, is aggressively moving to online. I’ve been actively working on my e-commerce platform to offer people a virtual shopping experience for when they can’t physically visit the store. However, people do still like browsing through a brick and mortar space so I am mindful of continuing to develop this personal, almost sensory experience for people.
