Meet Renee Tracy of Pure Acu Clinic in Brighton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Tracy.

Renee, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my business in 2011. I pretty much started with just the boots on my feet so to speak! At the time I had just graduated from Chinese Med School without much money to my name and a huge student loan debt. I remember having to sell my beloved motorcycle and also borrowing money from friends. It was quite a wild ride but man, it was totally worth it. Here I am today with a very successful, busy clinic and my dream keeps getting bigger and more wonderful every year.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well, I put some of these struggles in the prior paragraph but there are plenty more. I remember not having much money to afford a good, reliable car in order to get around and get to work so I had to buy this old 1993 golden colored Buick Lesabre. I named it the GGLM: gorgeous golden love mobile. The thing was beat up for sure. It was all rotted out underneath. It had no struts, so when I drove over Comm ave I would literally be bouncing in the air over all those train tracks. I was so scared to drive that thing but at the same time I really did like that car. It was like a couch on wheels! All my mechanic friends were afraid for my life when I got into that car! But it all worked out.

I also remember having to move my clinic from its original location which was a bit nerve wracking for me because I wasn’t sure how that would affect my business. I needed more exposure and to be involved with a multi-disciplinary clinic so I decided to join Simon Wellness which is still where I currently am today. It turned out to be a successful move for my clinic. There’s a lot of funny stories with my colleagues that I could talk about as well but perhaps another time.

Pure Acu Clinic – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. My real focus and specialty is more on orthopedic acupuncture and gut health but I treat any condition minor or major from A – Z. I have a great relationship with all my patients and take a deep interest in their well-being. I care about what I do and who I work with so naturally, I take great pride in my clinic and my medicine. I feel very blessed and as a result, I devote a lot of time and energy to these things and deeply enjoy every moment of it.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I think success is whatever gives you the deepest happiness. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks or is doing. At the end of the day I feel good about myself and what I’m putting out in the world, that’s all that matters. I do what I do and if that makes another person happy and healthier then I’m doing something right in my book.
