Today we’d like to introduce you to Reese Tisdale.
Reese, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We believe that water is one of the most pressing issues facing our generation. After all, humans can’t live for more than three days without water. So whether it be in the U.S., or in international markets, maintaining the status quo in water and wastewater management is no longer an option and requires new strategies, alternative business models, and innovative solutions to meet growing demands.
The irony, however, is that in a sector going back millennia, companies are still challenged by a lack of high quality, reliable intelligence on market sizing, competitors, and critical factors impacting their business strategies.
We launched Bluefield Research in 2012 to be at the leading edge change, by bridging this gap with market data and trend analysis. It’s been a great success.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Going into this, we did not anticipate the U.S. sector to be so robust, so we are excited by broader company interest and our related growth in the market. Certainly this has been helped by a five-year California drought, Flint, Michigan, and lagging infrastructure investment discussions in in Washington and state capitals.
Water is not new, and it is largely a public service. So convincing companies to think strategically about new technologies and solutions is difficult. But, hey, this is business. It’s not supposed to be all roses.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Bluefield Research story. Tell us more about the business.
Bluefield focuses exclusively on water.
For starters, we are not a news organization, but rather provide market intelligence backed by an objective, third-party view of the market.
With offices in Boston and Barcelona, we are an independent advisory firm founded to help companies and organizations address the regulatory, technology, business, and competitive trends impacting water. Our geographically diverse team of experts with backgrounds in business, engineering, and water, allows clients to tap a broad range perspectives.
We are making a mark and an impact on how companies are addressing water, globally. There was a time when I lived for three years in post-civil war stricken El Salvador, where water flowed sometimes once a week. So, to take this experience and apply it toward a water and solving infrastructure problems, is incredible.
