Today we’d like to introduce you to Ralph Faia.
Ralph, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
ThermoCraft Engineering was founded in 1969 by my grandfather Ralph Faia SR. Straight out of the Navy, trained as an Engineer on a battleship, my grandfather worked as an Engineering Manager at a company called AFTCO. They were on the cutting edge of advanced brazements that catapulted a new market. When my grandfather left AFTCO to start ThermoCraft Engineering, they were a company specializing in brazing. Over the years of diversifying their customer base, necessity brought forth new purchases of machinery and processes. Today, ThermoCraft is and ISO 9001 Certified company that does AWS Military welding, machining, sheet metal fabrications, engineering services, contract manufacturing, and not to leave out, advance brazements. My father Ralph Faia JR, joined my grandfather some decades ago to further grow the business. I now sit next to my father, and yes, I am Ralph Faia 3rd, haha. We would like people to know that ThermoCraft Engineering operates as a team/family that will offer you the best service and business relationship that’s worth more than our combined knowledge of over 150 years in design engineering, or our extensive knowledge in lean manufacturing. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The major struggles that hit us are all too common to everyone else, such as the economic climate, growing pains, and everyday adversity. There are no smooth roads on the way to something great.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ThermoCraft Engineering story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a contract manufacturer who offers engineering support and the best non automated customer service in business. Our in house services include, CNC Machining (Turning and Milling), AWS Certified Welding, Sheet Metal Fabrications (Punches and Lasers), Brazing, and Electrical Assembly. I believe the one factor that differentiates our company other than our diverse capabilities, is our quality. We believe in getting things right the first time, and for our customers to feel comfortable when their part enters the ThermoCraft Process.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
In this business if you are superstitious, you will start to feel very unlucky. On a daily basis it seems the only luck we get is unfortunate, but as you look back in time, everything seems to work out.
