Meet Rachel Strangie of Rachel Strangie Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Strangie.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My husband and I were married in January of 2017 and had the coolest blizzard (I mean really, 10+ inches of snow) wedding of all time. There is nothing more than I cherish than looking back at my wedding photos and being able to relive every moment of such a perfect day!

Photography to some extent was always a hobby of mine. I always had cameras growing up and have endless, embarrassing albums of my youth on Facebook (they’re extraordinarily private). My own wedding photographer inspired me without even knowing it to take it to the next level, invest in a better camera, and really learn; I did just that for about a year and really fell in love with the way I felt behind the lens.

All of that brings me to now, a growing photographer with a love for depth, beautiful surroundings and wonderful people.

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a business is challenging. I am still in the early stages and really relying on personal connections and word of mouth to grow it. I have been lucky to have some photography friends who have helped me along the way and support me, but I am completely self-taught.

When I get into something, I go 100% at it and that’s what I have done with photography. The biggest challenges being the early investments and education.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Rachel Strangie Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a North Shore, Massachusetts photographer who heavily focuses on bringing out natural and sincere laughter and smiles throughout sessions to capture the absolute best images. After getting to know you and your partner, I carefully put together a session plan for you including specific prompts and poses to make you feel comfortable and have a day worth remembering for how you great you felt, and not a not worth remembering because it was AWKWARD.

I pride myself on great customer experiences. It is so important to me that your time with me is not only memorable through the photos, but it was a time you can look back on and cherish. For me, the most important thing in life is memories made. So your experience in taking your photos should have meaning and create a memory, and then you can look back on the photo and remember how you felt when you were taking it.

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years?  Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
In the next 5-10 years, I hope to take business full time with the support of my husband who will be joining me as a photographer when reading. I have really been loving shooting engagement shoots and weddings, I hope to focus on those areas and further explore providing education.

One area I have really been loving as well as pet photography- creating a community for other pet bloggers and teaching them how to create the best photos is something I am currently exploring on the side.
