Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Rebelo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born to build! Even at a young age I had a passion for it. Playing with Lincoln logs and toy Mack trucks turned into making bows and arrows with sticks, to building treehouses and a mock bridge as I got older. I attended a vocational high school, studied carpentry and I’ve worked in the construction field since I was a young teenager. My parents are immigrants from Portugal, and they taught me hard work is essential in life. I never attended college, but my parents pushed me to work, learn from my experience, and be as successful as I can be.
I started P.G.R. Construction, Inc. in 2005. It’s been one of the hardest and best things I’ve done in my life. Motivation, drive, and determination have gotten me to where I am today. It’s hard work and not for everyone, but the satisfaction and pride your feel is unlike anything else. The reward is definitely sweeter when your company and your team brought a project successfully to life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s certainly not easy. To run your own business successfully, it requires an extreme amount of your time and attention. It’s a struggle to find balance within your personal and work life . It’s key to have a great support group personally and for your family to understand your ambition and share in the success of your achievements.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a general construction company that primarily works in commercial construction. We are known best for new builds and renovations of Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants.
We are most proud of our reputation. We are known for our experience, quality of work, and ability to complete projects on-time no matter the challenges or obstacles that arise during construction.
Our skills and determination set us apart from competition. We work hard and we work fast.
What were you like growing up?
I was always doing something as a kid and even now. I wasn’t one for video games or t.v. I’ve always enjoyed being busy. I’ve always been stubborn (I’m told), but I believe a person needs to be reasonably stubborn to be successful as an entrepreneur.
Obviously, I enjoy the outdoors. Fishing, boating, kayaking, snowmobiling, motorcycles, are all personal interests.
