Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Raymond and Ian Ricci.
Nate, Ian – please share your story with us.
We are the co-founders of SolBid. We are long-time friends and business associates, both with a strong passion for renewable energy. Nate comes from a strong business development background, and Ian an extensive technology background. While discussing the existing complexities within the commercial solar industry, we decided to combine our skill sets and create an easier path for businesses to acquire solar energy systems.
In 2014 we established the company and joined the CleanTech NorthEast TD program to strengthen our business concept and began building our own proprietary platform. We have been finalists in business plan competitions, having even pitched and spent time talking about SolBid with the famous entrepreneur, Daymond John. Through hard work and perseverance, our business has been exceedingly successful, growing at a record pace.
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a business is never a smooth road, no matter how it might appear. Nate had to moonlight his corporate consulting career while starting SolBid. He worked 12hr days while helping raise his little girl with his wife, who was in college full-time. Ian maintained his IT/software development company, consulting for a number of businesses in Massachusetts. He worked night and day to support himself while jump starting SolBid; some nights getting less than 4 hours of sleep.

SolBid is a national commercial solar energy systems provider. We make it easy for businesses to go solar, eliminating the majority of complexities and bottlenecks that currently exist in the commercial solar marketplace. Through our innovative solar energy design platform and streamlined approach, we are able to simplify the solar acquisition process and reduce project development times and cost.
Our company specializes in turnkey commercial rooftop solar energy systems; including PV system design, feasibility, procurement, financing, project development, Incentives monetization, and O&M services.
SolBid’s solar solutions help businesses enhance their bottom line while at the same time reducing their carbon footprint, protecting the environment.

Boston is an amazing place for business. Not only is Boston a recognizable city across the nation, but there are an ample amount of resources available to you as a new business, most within walking distance or a short trip on the T. There are many great restaurants and eateries to bring clients, and the cities small business scene has been booming.
