Meet Nancy Fudge of Fudge Properties in North Middlesex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Fudge.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 1981 a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to take the real estate exam with him. I said sure and went to the class. He flunked the exam and I passed. At the time I had a full time job so I did real estate nights and weekends and decided if I did well I would do real estate full time. I gave it one year. In 1982 I quit my full time job and made real estate my full time job and it has been my full time job since. I worked for a small company first then went with Realty World. In turn, Realty World was bought out by DeWolfe and then DeWolfe was bought out by Coldwell Banker where I worked for the next 25 years. In 2007, at suggestions of friends and family, I opened my own office and we’ve been thriving ever since. Our motto is, and always will be, ‘treat people the way you want to be treated’ and it’s paid off. I have a fantastic group of agents who are constantly getting referrals from past clients because of the great work they did. When I do have free time, I vacation with my family in York, Maine. I’m a true believer that hard work pays off!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road because people think because we’re an independent office, we don’t offer the same services as the corporate big guys. Some people think they need a corporate logo to get noticed and that’s just not true. My office can offer the same things everyone else does.

Fudge Properties – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is real estate sales. We don’t have a “specialty” because we do it all! We offer everyone “one stop shopping” so they come here and if they need a lender or attorney, we can offer the ones affiliated with our office. If, after a home inspection, work is required, we also have several contractors for our clients and customers to choose from.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is when people refer their friends and families because they were pleased with the services and personal attention they received from us.
