Today we’d like to introduce you to Michaela P.
Michaela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
‘More Positivity’ in its truest and most organic form, has always been a part of who I am. Throughout my life, I have always opted to find hope, choose the good instead of the bad and reach for (more) positivity. My interest in people, compassion, and happiness is what led me to study and graduate with a degree in psychology. It also keeps me on track as I have slowly taken courses toward a Masters degree in counseling psychology.
For most of my life, though, I hadn’t acknowledged or understood this undeniable presence until I was brought on a difficult path. As a young and innocent 21-year-old, I unexpectedly lost both my mother and grandfather within a few months of each other. They were both a large part of my world and when this happened, my entire life changed. Losing someone you love is hard at any time in your life. As a young woman growing up with only a single mother, the trauma of those two losses made me fragile. Though the losses, I endured were life altering and saddening, I found myself never losing hope. Those closest to me were continuously sharing with me how strong I was, how I encompassed what they wished they could be and that I was so ‘positive’. At the moment, it was unclear how people saw that in me. I didn’t feel strong, positive or capable. Now, I look back on those trying times with so much gratitude and love. For myself, for my journey and for the two people who influenced my life and More Positivity. Though they are no longer here with me, I believe they’ve never truly left me.
About a year ago, More Positivity was just a thought that I brought into existence. I never knew that I would connect with people all over the world and contribute to their perspective or show them a new way to look at life. Sharing my story, though it is a vulnerable thing to do, has been so worthwhile. It reminds others that in this world of Instagram filters and “perfection”, no one is perfect. We all have a story, a past, we’ve all gone through difficult times. What I’ve been through is not special and it’s not more important than anyone else’s story either. That’s the beautiful part about More Positivity, it is an opportunity for you and me to meet where we are and find hope. I want to remind people that this life is precious and that it is theirs to take hold of. Even if the dark places tell them otherwise, I want people to know that they deserve to live their best lives (and they can)! I say this confidently because I lived it.
Overall, looking back, do you feel it been a smooth road?
The beautiful part about each individuals’ journey through life, as I’ve found, is that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes, our journeys are bumpy, sometimes they’re smooth. These experiences are all a part of our learning process. We get to experience things that allow us to learn, grow and become stronger. Without friction, we would always stay the same.
Creating More Positivity has been a rewarding experience – especially since in the beginning, I was unsure where it would lead. I just wanted to share hope with anyone who was seeking it. Through using Instagram as my first platform to connect, I’ve been able to use my creativity and interest in photography and pair it with my love for writing and speaking. I will be publishing written blogs a few times a week, an exciting video series and a weekly empowerment email. My website has been a trying experience for the sole reason that it is a learning curve. With that said, it is amazing that I can say I’ve created and designed my own website from scratch! Be on the lookout for all that is to come!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with More Positivity – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
More Positivity is a place where people can come to find inspiration and hope. With thoughts and videos delving into different topics, my hope is that everyone that connects with MP will feel inspired to live. Yes, even though just a simple paragraph or two!
MorePositivity.com will be live within the coming weeks. Having a website will be a new and exciting outlet for me to connect with others. Though the More Positivity Instagram is still active and thriving, the website connection will allow a different and more creative light. In the future, I will be offering life and empowerment coaching as well as teaching courses. Local speaking engagements are also being booked!
The weekly newsletter that will be sent out when MorePositivity.com goes live is something I am really excited for. I’ve connected with current readers on @MorePositivity’s Instagram to see what people are searching for. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to do something that sets my soul on fire and share it with all of you.
Who else deserves credit – have you had mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, advocates, clients or teammates that have played a big role in your success or the success of the business? If so – who are they and what role did they plan/how did they help.
More Positivity has been a little project of mine and as I pursue it, I have been cheered on by many loving friends and family members and a special mentor. I also hear my mom’s beautiful voice in my mind telling me that there is no such thing as failure, all we can do is try. I’m grateful that I listened to that little voice and kept putting my ideas into the world. It’s not always easy to put yourself out there, especially when those around you don’t really understand. When it is something you are passionate about, you always have to try. The world needs what you have to give!
