Meet Matt Baldwin of Baldwin Company in Allston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Baldwin.

Matt, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began appraising with a relative in a family owned business back in 2003 and have since ventured out and established the real estate appraiser firm, Baldwin Company. Prior to appraising, I was involved with residential contraction and am a graduate from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The appraisal industry is constantly changing. Market conditions, regulations, and methods of reporting do not remain static. Staying on top of these changes is something that requires constant attention.

Baldwin Company – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Baldwin Company is a small real estate appraisal firm and I have direct involvement in all appraisal and consulting assignments. Offering quality reporting without compromise is what I feel sets Baldwin Company apart from other valuation providers.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Proudest moments are when I am engaged to appraise a property for a 2nd opinion and the report affirms my clients’ suspicion that a previous appraisal report is flawed. I often see this with divorce proceedings.
