Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Hebert.
Former Wall Street executive, Joshua Hebert, brings the financial savvy he garnered at Paine Webber to Boston-based Magellan Jets which he launched in 2008. In founding Magellan Jets, Hebert melded his passion for aviation with his knowledge and expertise in financial relations, which he gleaned from serving at prestigious firms on Wall Street.
As a result of the successful launch of Jets.com, which Hebert started in 2000, when Hebert founded Magellan Jets, he was already an experienced manager in the aviation business.
Hebert served as sales and marketing director at Jets.com, a private jet company from 2000 to 2008. During his time with Jets.com, Joshua led the sales team and increased the company’s growth by an astounding 600 percent. Prior to making his mark at Jets.com, Joshua applied his sales magic at The Boston Business Journal, a division of American City Business Journals, Inc., a Condé Nast company. As the Journal’s sales manager, he boosted sales by an incredible 800 percent margin in 1997 and earned the company its highest sales award from the American City Business Journals for the next three years.
As Founder and CEO of Magellan Jets, Hebert is responsible for managing Magellan Jets’ investment banking activities, and the strategic development of mergers and acquisitions.
Joshua Hebert’s expertise is in business start-ups and transformations and he has an extensive track record in growing businesses through creative new solutions, which he demonstrated by increasing sales at Magellan Jets by 580 percent from July, 2008 to July, 2009 alone.
He has embraced web technologies and social media and uses them efficiently to build brands and revenue. He has succeeded in applying combinations of “old and new media” to deliver astounding increases in lead volume and sales for a variety of businesses.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My career path was by no means a straight line. I went from finance to sales to private aviation, and I couldn’t have done it without learning from both mentors and mentees along the way. Those relationships are as valuable as gold, and can last a lifetime if formed with a solid foundation.
That doesn’t mean the relationships are always easygoing—far from it. I remember from my days in sales that one of my best mentors used to call me out constantly in front of coworkers. After one particularly tough day, he explained that he did it because he knew I could take it, and that I always seemed to grow from the experience. That struck a chord with me and it guided my decisions as a business owner and mentor myself.
