Meet Liz Boston of Liz Boston Art Studio in Weymouth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Boston.

Liz, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from the Museum School of Fine art in 2000 with the four year Studio Art program. After school I met Edwina Caci, a Copley society portrait painter, she became my mentor and taught me the intricacies of painting that are hard to learn in a classroom setting. I have always painted commissioned work and have painted a lot of custom pet portraits, as well as worked on many free-lance graphic design jobs. I have co-owned businesses in the past with my Husband Scott, however nothing art related. In 2015 I found a job that allowed me time to open a business and in July of that year I was finally able to open my Art Studio and live my dream of running an art business!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My struggle was that I had to open this business without any type of Business loan or credit line. I had to do everything on a shoestring. This meant without an advertising budget I had to utilize a lot of viral marketing and social media to get the word out. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when put to the test!

Please tell us about Liz Boston Art Studio.
I own Liz Boston Art Studio. I teach small art classes with one on one attention to Kids, Teens and Adults. I have Art Party Packages available, and I host paint Nights where everyone paints along while I instruct them step by step at the front of the room. I also travel to private homes and function halls for parties and event fundraisers. I have done fundraiser Paint Night events for up to 70 people.

My small boutique style studio is family oriented and kid friendly! We have a mascot, my dog Kona who is an adorable Puggle who greets everyone at the shop. My paint nights at the studio are done in the dark with a disco ball and dance music!

I also offer a Walk-In-And-Paint option where people can choose a pre-drawn image (similar to a coloring book picture) from over 30 designs on the wall, and then sit in the studio and paint it!

I also do special events for schools, like mural painting, and special events for scouting groups too.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I always wanted to be a shop owner and would sit in my room for hours drawing 3d pictures of what my store would look like. I would customize my product list, prices, my store name and everything!

Pricing:

  • Walk-in-And-paint $10/each
  • Paint Night $25/person
  • Adult Art Class $20/class
